Hi,
The 996 manual mentions using coolant approved by an official Porsche center.
Which coolant should I buy to top up my levels please?
Cheers,
Andy
er....coolant approved by an official Porsche center....
sorry I couldnt resist...
Actually look at www.rennlist.com in the 996 section. There is a discussion thread relating to this. The issue is that apparantly Porsche changed the type of coolant at some stage and its important to get the matching one to the car. Best bet is to visit an OPC or Porsche specialist
There are all different types of coolant.
Some types may cause seals to perish in a particular car.
The halfords one may be great for a ford or a vauxhal, but may not be ideal for a Porsche. Or vice versa.
It is important to get the right one. Having said that Ive never had a problem but do you want to risk it?

You might want to contact Elf or Arteco and see what they say. I am in the US and they gave me the name of 2 Texaco products that are identical to the coolant sold by Porsche but "not yet approved by Porsche." Jeff

There are 2 Arteco coolants approved by Porsche. In the US the coolant we buy at the Porsche dealer is made by Arteco. Jeff
