I've just noticed a Mk 1 GT3 Clubsport for sale in the Porsche Club magazine for around 53K. I then looked at the dealers website which confirms it is RHD. The mileage is 22K and the colour is speed yellow.

Is this a reasonable price? Does anyone know whether there is a usually much difference in price between comfort and clubsport specs? I'd also be interested to hear what others think of GT3's in speed yellow. I've never been that keen on yellow cars in general but it does seem to be popular on GT3's.

saw this a reasonable price, speed yellow is popular on GT3 especially as the bodykit sets it off.A clubsport is worth more than a "comfort" by about £3k.
Consider that most people who buy a clubsport track the car,23k track miles is a lot harder on a car than motorway miles...brakes & clutch seem to have been replaced,,see that there is nothg else particularly track consumables that need replacing or that it had had any accident damage.
i have heard ok reports of the garage selling it....
Finally read Tommy T's write up about tracked Gt3 on the 993 RS thread on this forum,,,good luck.

Normally no real price diff for Clubsport vs Comfort. Is this the car at Lockyear Cars ?

It sounds like it has had a reasonable amount of track time, no issue there that,s allegedly what they were made for ?

The price sounds good. Check out the disc rotors @ £200-00 each + VAt + Labour and only a 2mm life they are an expensive consumable. Genuine pads are c£250-00 for front axle set. So if rotors + pads needed count on around £1050-00 all up.

Of all the 996's Gt3 are easiest to get away with Speed Yellow on.
Check the reg and Vin with Gary Bullen on Titanic to see that the car is a clubsport as a number of comfort specs were altered at great expense as owners wanted to track them. He may also know the cars history.

There is another inexpensive one at Cridfords, wrong wheels on & 32,000 miles but also around £52k

Thanks for the info guys. I'll read Tommy T's write up on the GT3 and I will definately contact Gary Bullen to verify that this is a genuine clubsport.
The car I was referring to is the one for sale at Lockyear cars.

Alan, has the GT3 lived up to your expectations?. I've heard that the Mk 1 brakes are not that good though maybe this is something you would only find out on a trackday. `

GT3 Mk1 Comfortr

Mr Trucks I am suprised that you think there is no real premium for a clubsport over a comfort, as you point out yourself,a few comfort have been converted at great expense... would it not make sense to pay a little more for the real thing in the first place? I know i would..Also as GT3 are 2 seaters and perhaps a little less practical than a regular 996 C2, most owners will look to take them on trackdays, where there will be a comparative advantage to driving a CS version..Finally at least in RS and 911 models there is definitely a Clubsport premium...why do you not think so for the Gt3 ?

Clubsport
My thinking was:- When new GT3 Comfort or CS was same price. CS had 2 x cut off switches, Dual Mass flywheel, Nomex Recaros and full cage with 1 harness.
Comfort had Recaros with Leather[£1,500 option on CS], optional rear cage[ add £700].
Climate Control & CDR were no cost options. Metallic was extra on both. So all in all a balance on cost when new. Most CS's will have been tracked more than comparable Comfort so cars may have deteriorated more.

Both have same BHP, same suspension, same wheels. The comfort is actually lighter.....

My own belief is that right now the car has not reached the status that it will i.e. spiritual succesor to the legendary 964Rs & 993RS but in about 4 years it will have, at this time a CS will be worth more than a Comfort, just as a 964RS Lwt CS is worth more than a 964RS Touring.

I may of course be completely wrong !!!

Seriosly did the Clubsport have a dual mass flywheel?
I thought that is one reason why punters may have gone for a comfort which i am sure has the Dual mass Fwheel as the noise and vibration from the lightweight flywheel may put buyers off, not that they cared about the slightly better throtle response
