Hi Steve, welcome aboard. wavey

Have you considered finding privately advertised cars in your area and employing a independant vehicle inspector instead - It would probably outweigh the mark-up from a trader even if you have to inspect 3 or 4 cars before finding a good example.

ps. I know nothing of Finlay Goreham, and Im not in East Anglia much these days so wouldnt know where else to go.

(I bought from London (Portiacraft) when I was living in Norwich.

haven't brought from him but Goff at Finlay Gorham seems to have a good rep and was happy to have me test drive couple of his cars over the years. I've also bounced stuff off him about PSEs and the like and he's always been helpful. Also thinking of using him for indie servicing now mine is coming up 4 years old.

I have not used them but the father of the girl friend of the owner - I think thats right - is a pal of mine. So, when I was looking for my 993 I asked them to ring me.........

...... to be fair they did. For about 3 secs and then the mobile phone connection died. So I thought they will ring me again soon.... but they never did. I could have rung them but I am a bit old fashioned and I thought that given I had expressed an interest in making an expensive (and cash) purchase and that I was, obliquely, a mate of a mate, someone might have bothered to come back. Silly me!

I am rapidly learning that customer service seems to be something that happens in other countries these days. I'm sure they have good cars - my mate speaks highly of them - and know their stuff but I cant be bothered to chase dealers around. They want custom they can blooming well earn it.

He's a strange chap, almost disinterested at times when I bought mine, but we agreed a fair price, he got all the work done as he said he would, and he didn't do servicing then, Autostrasse did most of his work.

Would I buy again, probably if he had the right stock.

Believe Autowerke Norwich have a pretty good rep, but don't appear to have any cars available at present

im 5 mins away from him ...ive seen one of those modernised 911 things he did /does , it had the most shocking cheap n nasty paint and trim ive seen in a long time

im keen to avoid people just like him...i.e cheap rough cars cheaply spruced up for a profit , id like to find a genuine honest car

I am new to this forum, but I have just bought a 964 via Autowerke in Norwich. They were excellent and the car is in good all round condition, it just needs some slight TLC on the body work, but that said they still made it look good! This is my first Porsche and I love it.

I bought my current car from them - to be fair it was my first Porsche and the first time I'd ever bought from a dealer. I found them nice enough to deal with and would buy from them again.

As previously mentioned, he's a strange chap. And I remember seeing a car recently on his website which wasn't even prepped properly. If you're going to advertise a car, at least give it a wash and vac!

He looks like a Norfolk chap! You know, the county with a population of 900,000 but only 4 surnames! biggrin

Went with a friend to buy a BMW off him a few years ago, car turned out OK, Goff was easy to deal with, happy to test drive, no pressure, prices i thought were competitive.

I frequently look at his page on PH to see if theres a 996 that grabs me, but it always seems to be C4's, cabs, and tips which i'm not knocking, just isn't really my bag baby.

ok well a small update for anyone that cares

popped over for a look sinse he had some cars that might suit , the fella seems straight up enough and no pressure or hard sales chat, seems to know his stuff as you would expect

id called in advance to check viewing was okay , got there and that car and all the others were filthy dirty and very little prep ever

we decided against the car , but we was close to getting it , if it had been polished and some effort made to make it look nice i think he would have had the sale
