Have to agree,
Normally never one to shy away from a challenge, I just dont see the point in running a GT2 as a road car, over the awesome TT...
IT just seems past mental...
As a track tool, It would be awesome... and by far kill the TT, Maybe, as a occasionaly driven one the road, track car... I can understand..
But choosing a GT2 over a TT just for road.. well, I will buy that guy a

Personally I find the GT2 very refined and civilised for the road and keep find myself continually looking at power upgrades to make it a little faster..........

I suppose its the same old 'OMG' syndrome. We all know how fast the TT is, and how much faster the GT2 is...
My TVR was only ~300 bhp, but was still very lively in the dry, let alone the wet.. you have an extra 50-60% power, AND turbo rush to content with...
I suppose the nanny state in me just thinks its lethal... but once I try one, I am sure I will 'see the light'
but wasnt the GT2 nicknamed the 'widowmaker' (just like a million other things!!)
Give me my 400bhp plus with 4wd & PSM please.Put your foot flat to the floor in 2nd on a streaming wet road & the beasty simply bolts for the horizon..in a straight line ! PSM doesn't drive the car for you, it's set at such a high level that it (generally) only cuts in when you have seriously over cooked it. In other words it's simply a safety net, not somthing that drives the car for you. A "safety net" comes in useful for all of us at sometime or another, we all make mistakes !
But I bet the GT2 is a great adrenaline pump, each to their own I say, thrash & enjoy.

I've seen enough crashed Turbos (and Skylines like you owned Guy) to know that computers don't drive it.. humans do.
Any 4WD car is going to be easier to catch than a RWD car.. you could call the 4WD car safer, or you could talk macho rubbish about a RWD car being a "proper" drivers car..
At the end of the day, for most people, the 4WD Turbo will be safer (eg. in those unforseen moments like a diesel spill).
I loved my GT2, but it's called the Widowmaker for a reason, and there's a HUGELY disproportionate number of GT2s crashed to earn this moniker, many of which are/were driven by proficient/experienced people.
Are you saying the Turbo doesn't have proper tyres ?!?
Smells like snobbery to me.

No. this was one was *OX (*=number). Silver.
I have seen OIL996 around though. Spotted about 4 different GT2s since the new year. I live in Pimlico, and walk past Parliament on a daily basis.
Embankment road is THE haven for nice cars in London, with Knightsbridge and Docklands being good also.

I normally lose count but on one walk from Pimlio to Temple tube i saw: 9DB7s, 13SL55/500s, 2 550s, 1 360, 1 355, dozens of 996s including maybe 5 or 6 Turbos.
Saw 2 Nero 360Spyders within about 4 cars of eachother on Monday night.

Was interested to read though that the GT2 "didn't stand a chance" keeping up with the Turbo on track as well as road, unless it was dry - Just as well we all live in a dry warm climate eh?

Steve i think the comparative ULTIMATE difference in track performance depends on the driver. In the TT most drivers will be able to get a consistently better track time in a TT rather than a GT2.
However if you are a cup car driver,Rosberg or Rohl then the Gt2 is probably the faster car.
I beleive the posted ring times for test drivers shows the GT2 as the quicker car.
The Gt2 does have the Kudos edge in my opinion whether that is down to the scary factor or rarity.
However i am sure I would be much quicker & safer in a TT.
