I need a few bits for my 944 S2. I contacted Porsche-a-Part and emailed them a photo of the part I wanted. I had to call them back three times to chase and was never called back as promised.

Can anyone recommend a good Porsche breaker please.

I've bought a few bits recently from Prestige Salvage - service has always been good.

Bizarre that - I sent an email yesterday with a picture of the part attached (for a 993), and got an answer within the hour!

I've used http://www.frazerpart.com/ in the past. They are a small company but very helpful, and tend to have a fair bit of 944 stuff.

Try Kirkman Motor Engineers in Shardlow near Derby, no idea if they do mail order I just know they have lots of older Porsche's kicking about in various states of dismemberment.

Perhaps I was just unlucky. I know they have a good reputation but it is a bit annoying when you want to spend money and they don't want to take it!

Many apologies. Would it be possible to give me a call personally (Warren) on 01706-824053 to address the issue! We always strive to offer A1 customer service. If thats not the case I would love to find out who was dealing with you and take the issue up with them.

Many thanks

Have to say I've had 3 dealings with the above company and they've been spot on each time - last time saved me £450 for a fan!

PH Sportscars in Shardlow are good for front-engined cars and their prices are very reasonable.

You're still talking about secondhand parts at the end of the day. Please bear that in mind.

My air-con compressor from a respected Porsche breaker failed in the first week after the warranty period expired (28 days IIRC) so I ended up adding the cost for that to the cost for an exchange unit from Eurocarparts - very good btw.

Yeah but you got £1700 out of me for a pair of GT3 seats a few years ago. BTW, if you ever come across any 997 gt3 or turbo folding bucket type seats give me a ping!

I think there's some items (particularly parts that are prone to failure or wear) that aren't worth getting second hand. AC compressors being one of them I guess!

I've had good service from Porshapart but if the lads are too busy to get to the phone and you only get to speak to the lady on reception, the promised phone call back often doesn't materialize. Best to ring back yourself after giving it half an hour or so.

I have actually managed to source the parts privately from someone who is breaking a 944.

Warren - I will ask for you in person when I next need some parts for the old girl.

Thanks for taking the time to reply.
