Only on a Porsche forum would you got anyone calling those "quite major changes"Do you see Caterham changing the design of the Super Seven.... they might make odd changes, make the lights different, wider suspension, maybe change the dash... but the overall shape is very similar... and for good reason.
My understanding has always been that the next generation of the '911' (although it hasn't had that designation for 20 years
) would be the most radical since the 993>996, with a new platform and new engines, but retaining the packaging that has made the 911 such a durable success.
With the changes in ownership and management, I can't see the new model (998, 991 ?) being announced until 2012. In the meantime, there will be lots of spy-shots of mules, test vehicles and pohto-shop speculation.
Porsche tend to play their cards close to their chest until they are ready.
