Search the archives as recent thread about it, IIRC. Mr Ruf et al show that 550bhp+ is very possible.

You can make a 996tt much more exciting in the mean time by disconnecting the PSM and front wheel driveshafts.

A mate of mine chipped his (brand new) 996 tt rather than get the X50 pack - think he's got about 485 bhp. If you chip the X50 you can apparently get well over 500.

Of course the warranty goes out of the window.

e mail me if you want details and I'll dig them out.

I can understand why you'd need more power, 996TT's do feel a little slouchy

Ralph

At risk of some serious shooting down...

If I wanted to drive faster in the 996 tt - the first investment I'd make is advanced driving and car control courses rather than more BHP. (Don Palmer @ Bruntingthorpe is twice the driver I am and charges not a lot compared to a power hike)...

...but then again I'm sure you've been there (or thereabouts), and done it.

Steve,

That's all very well until some grinning psycho in a black Ultima goes flying up the inside at a rate not incomparable with the effluent moment resulting from a Clark Kent/ 'Gentleman's publication' interface (in full red underpant mode).

Here I am! yes I had Ray West do a stage one upgrade on my previously standard 996TT, which basically takes it to around 485bhp and similar increases in torque, he achieved this by mapping changes for fueling, throttle response potentiometer and increasing the boost pressure (I have briefly seen up to 1.2 bar on the boost now) Additionally he reckoned a freer flowing sports exhaust would add a further 15+ to take it just over the 500bhp mark, I am still considering having this done but dunno whether it'll cause problems for track day noise regs. The next upgrade he has suggested to me is to change to the larger turbos fitted to GT2 and X50 and from what I recall different injectors and exhaust manifolds to get somewhere inexcess of 550 bhp. As far as the X50 is concerned he mentioned around 520bhp for the remap, as you already have the larger turbos. I can certainly recommend Ray, as a number of others on this site can too - best of luck keep us posted.

PS I can also vouch for Don Palmer having "used" him on a number of occasions both in my old 360 and the 996TT - well worth the money, many times over!
