As a new owner, what should my oil pressure gauge be reading when running normal road speed, going like the clappers and at idle cold & hot. Mines up the top of the gauge normal. a tad past when moving and approx horizontal when idling.
My rear wiper always sticks at horizontal, even with when raining. Any cure or are they all useless?

Oil pressure on my old S and current Turbo:

when cold, right up the top at idle
When hot, centreline (approx 3 bar) at idle)
The oil pressure move sharply as soon as the revs rise. If it falls in normal driving, stop and investigate immediatly.

Wiper;

This should be vertical at all times, and sweeps down to the horizontal, then back up. It sounds like the spline has sheared. Take off the cap at the base of the wiper blade, remove the wiper and switch on. This should move. If not, try the fuse or investigate further.

(Note: if your'e drain holes are blocked, and you wash the car the water can get underneath the seal, and into the qwiper mecahnism..

I hope this helps,

Will

The other cause of rear wiper failure is that there is a damn great nylon cog inside the box which sheds it's teeth. Take the lid of the box and run the wiper and you'll soon see if it's the cog or the spline. Tightening the nut can help alleviate the problem if it's the spline. If it's the cog then you're b*ggered.

Mine is b*ggered too and I was unable to source a new cog so it'll be 40 quid for a second hand drive box from porsche apart when I get around to it.

Thanks, oil pressures match. When wiper off screen it appears motor working ok but wiper inclined to stick at lower position. When physically helped it will return to vertical. Sounds like I need to take cover off to have a look?
