What are your views on buying a Boxster with a higher than average mileage? I'm talking over 80,000 miles.

Are they a money pit at this stage, needing routine replacement of expensive items after being thrashed, or are they barely run in?

I don't KNOW, but I wouldn't have too many qualms about buying a high mileage Boxster (apart from the fact it is a Boxster ).

I'm currently looking for a 968CS as a "runaround" to give my Chim a rest, and expect to take it round to 200k+, based on buying a 100k+ example.

That said, I fully expect to have to replace a lot of failing parts - after 100k you have to expect some wear and tear

I wouldn't worry about high mileages.
I have a 2.5 Boxster with 290.000 KM on the clock. Every single mile thoroughly enjoyed by myselve.
That is about 180.000 miles. The main thing to look for is the service record.
I intend to put another 100.000 km on it and then I'll take it to Ruff to have it converted.
Good luck
