Hi Richard and welcome,
Very difficult to say who we WOULDN'T as would go against our naming and shaming rules. Most of the companies who advertise in Porsche Post (the Porsche Club GB mag - join if you haven't, 50 quid a year) are reputable enough, but I would always recommend an independent inspection. Cost is approx 100 GBP. You should also get some kind of warranty if buying froma dealer.
A 964 is a common car privately second hand. I would suggest well maintained and good value cars CAN be found here, but inspection is critical. A bad one can cost thousands putting right - the 964 is that kind of Porsche at that kind of age. There are lots of classifieds in Porsche Post.

Lots of good independants around - just have a look through Porsche Post or 911 & Porsche World - though I have always bought privtly
Most imortant thing is to take your time, learn a lot about the partivular modekl and drive a few and always buy on overall condition rather than anything else. I had a 964 and, loved it to bits, though they are amongst the most expensive to keep
