luck of the draw i suppose, get a copper in a bad mood with nothing else to do and you'll be in for a fine and probably an mot deficiency notice too.

Don't worry about being pulled by the cops with these - way low down on the priorities and these can be read by ANPR/SPECS/Congestion cameras without difficulty - you know the ones all over the UK that can track where you have been. Big brother is here gentlemen.
More likely to get pulled when you p**s about with the letters/numbers to try to make them into something they are not.

Not the actual plate but I have the German style holders on my Porsche like these, http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Autohaus-Porsche-German-Numb...

i really like the look of them. don't think they would get you pulled if you had the DE and tax and emissions stickers, what cop would want to deal with a foreigner? there's a chance any camera stuff will be thrown out at first glance too. i ran round in the gt2 with no front plate for a year with no dramas.

There is only one "legal" font for UK plates...
The German "style" is noticably different, and will sooner or later get attention from the BIB or even fail the MOT.... Why bother??
Not quite true, there are two legal fonts in the UK, the standard font and the 3D font. The German "style" is noticably different, and will sooner or later get attention from the BIB or even fail the MOT.... Why bother??
Legal Font is sans serif

Freedman you can bang on about there being one font if you wish, I was trying to explain to people that there are two types of letter styles (fonts) that can be used for the UK number plate, just because its a version of the same font doesnt mean its not another font, Ariel and Arial bold are two separate fonts, based on the same style font.
