Hi,

I have a 944 S2 that I am thinking of putting some cup 1 wheels on (from a 968 I think) to up date the look a little.

Has anyone done this - do you have pictures you could share?

Thanks

My old 944, pics aren't great, but I really liked those wheels on it:

Currently thinking of getting another one, just less of a lemon this time hopefully!

80s cars usually look terrible when people try to 'update' them (roadwheels, stereo & speakers, steering wheel, lamp lenses etc). An S2 will look its best on Design 90s and it wont drive very well on anything larger in diameter either...

If I do it I'm going to put 16"'s off an 968 on it so the 'look' shouldn't be to foreign as it's an S2 that I have and apart from the lights they are pretty similar to look at (better though - imho). As they are 16" that would be replacing 16" d90's I don't think the ride would be affected either.

You will always get the people who say putting anyhting more modern on a car is spoling it and they are entitled to their opinion of course ! , however putting a set of 1991 wheels on a 1988 car is hardly off the planet years wise :P

I think that Cup ones are the best looking set of wheels ever put on a 944 period TBH.

I hated my car with Teles on but now love it with Cup Ones so you know where my vote goes. Totally personal choice but many folk do like Cup ones without a doubt.
I know D90's are popular too , I personally think they look very boring. Mine are off of a 968 by the way and though 17" Cups look good beware they do not ride as well especially if you just want a bolt on swap.

They were 17" - 225 on the front 255 on the rear IIRC.

She rode, turned and stopped brilliantly - never drove one on standard wheels, but if it was any better I'd have been amazed, as my old Lux really was a cracking drive (better than my ALPINA!)

Cup 1s look great as do many others, mine has original Boxster wheels which I think works too.

Your car do what you want.

Have a look at this picture I took about a year ago, both my 968 and S2 wearing 16" cup 1's

S2 though is also about 1" lower and on spacers, rubbing strips also removed.

I was going to add, if anything they look better on the S2 then the 968. 16" wheels look a little weedy on the 68.

Yup, its waay down. Compare it to my S2 above as it used to be. That car was about 1" lower on the front and about 30mm+ on the rear, as in by the time that picture was taken it had dropped a bit at the back from when the torsion bars where set, actually probably 35mm down on the back by then. Also looks like NS is running big spacers on the front because mine had 2 degrees -ve on the front and 6mm spacers, his car looks like its running 20mm spacers and probably more then 2 degrees -ve, more like 3.

If you mean NS's one I believe it was made into Cieran Brewers old S2 race car? Mine is mostly in er mine. I still have that red PU sat around not sure to do with it.

Hmm. A set plus tyres must be 20% of the value of the car. Do you want them that badly?

That makes sense, as I bought the PU off Kevin.
