Torque Wrench for 997 Gen 2 GT3 centre lock wheels

Folks,

Anyone bought a torque wrench for their RS or GT3 wheels yet especially if you are doing track days ?

I inquired about the Porsche one mentioned at the back of the drivers manual..... £1300 from your friendly OPC !!!!!! and i think that it is a torque multiplier not a torque wrench....

Anyway to torque to 500nm it will have to be a long wrench.

Yes i have bought the snap-on one you have been looking at,its about 4ft long,i also have the special porsche socket,i use the torque wrench for all the porsche hub nuts after changeing wheel bearings.

Sealey do a torque multiplier, various people supply these at approx £140. Does anyone know what size the socket is and if there is anything special about the genuine Porsche socket - except probably the price!

I am about to buy this one - more than enough at 700nm *as has been said, best not to buy one which maxes out at 500nm and get the next one up). It's a good make and reasonably priced compared to most!

Picking up on this, what's the Porsche socket you refer to? Do you mean the 3/4" -> splined hub adapter that's in the boot?

Don't forget you will also need a long breaker bar.

I bought a Snap on L872 ratchet head and L872RM 36" bar for the breaker bar. I also bought off eBay a CAT which is made by snap on, 3/4 torque wrench.

The precision instruments 3/4 torque is very popular in the US because it can be broken down in to smaller pieces for ease of transport.

Precision one for me. Fits diagonally in the luggage space and can be used to 'break' without destroying calibration.

Personally I have a used Norbar 4R that a friend sold me for cheap, but that has to travel in the cabin as it is way too big for the boot.

Yes - it does 600 ft lb max which translates to 800NM.

Sorry, I was thinking the other way was bigger number so is there not a slightly smaller one going to 600-700 NM? Also am I right in thinking this is the only one that breaks into shorter lengths? Cheers!
