What would happen if you had an aftermarket sports exhaust fitted while your car was under their approved used warranty? I've always assumed it would be void, but what if you got the Porsche centre themselves to fit it? Surely it wouldn't void the warranty then?

Also, does anyone have a sports exhaust fitted to their car that the salesman might turn a blind eye to wink

Thanks

ETA If the car was a 997 Turbo.

Its a wonder Porsche never developed one themselves - it would of surely of been a success, not to mention another way of relieving you of the best part of £3k i bet.

It would be void, and they do one (last I saw about £1500).

Interesting. I'm sure i was told there was no Porsche OE 'upgrade' exhaust available for the 997 Turbo. Only the Carrera.

Hope your right smile

Edited to say - apologies Mr pg, Yes your are correct, there is a OE Porsche Sports exhaust. For some reason i assumed Lambo was referring to the Turbo (got confused with his other thread asking for opinions on the 997T - for which i do not believe Porsche offer a sports exhaust) smile

Oooops, for some reason i was presuming this thread was intended for the 997 Turbo. Of course Porsche *do* a sports exhaust - just not for the 997 Turbo.

Doh

Sorry I may have confused you, I was referring to a aftermarket sports exhaust fitted to a 997 Turbo. So it would definitely be void? I'm sure I’ve read on here that some Porsche centres turn a blind eye to some exhausts fitted?

Thanks

ANY PART WHICH IS NOT A PORSCHE OFFICIAL PART FITTED BY THE OPC NETWORK VOIDS YOUR WARRANTY.

IT IS NOT UP TO THE OPC TO SAY WHETHER YOU'RE COVERED OR NOT. IF THEY TELL YOU YOU ARE, THEY ARE LYING. YOU'RE NOT.

End of story.

It's down to how friendly your dealer is. They can always put the stock one back on if there is a big problem but some OPC's are not so nice.

Yeah, I'm sure that faced with a big warranty claim and an inspector from Reading on the way your local OPC will be happy to swap exhausts over and commit insurance fraud for you, jepardising their franchise.

PLUS THE LAST THING IM GOING TO DO IS TELL EVERYONE WHERE I GO!!!! Another thing is it doenst have to be the OPC that changes the exhaust!!!

YOU SOUND LIKE YOU WORK FOR PORSCHE LOL.

Problem is I am right - if you get your busted car towed to an Indy and get the exhaust changed, then get it towed back, you're committing fraud.

Anyway good luck.

If you *do* put an aftermarket exhaust on it ( and i must admit *i* would be very tempted after hearing thems sound clips smile ) - DO NOT flash it off over t'internet. No one the wiser then.

What about this? According to this it's illegal for them to void your warrenty?

Applies to the new car warranty only (two year in Porsche's case).

Completely irrelevant to the insurance backed Approved Used one, where they can exclude what they want to.

Dam! Ok thanks anyway.

I just don't understand why Porsche don't do their own exhaust for the Turbo? They do it for the rest of their cars? This really is putting me off a Turbo because I don't like the sound of one with a standard exhaust, but then if I put anything else on I won't have a warranty? Oh well! rolleyes

Genuine question - can you not get an aftermarket warranty from someone else. What does the Porsche one offer that others don't?

Then their insurance-backed warranty breaks block exemption law. I bet they cannot enforce it this position...
