Regarding reving to 4k...is this really possible now at many of our UK tracks with them becoming "more strict" every year?
lets take for instance the 997 RS.1 at a "honest" 3/4 of the rev range is about 6300 rmp, at this point you are just on the 105db limit, at 7000 rmp you are at 106+db.
I`ve tried two sound tests recently with my 997RS.1 (not taking into account any exhaust or engine mods), on both occasions my rev counter was watched from a few inches away all the way up to 6000rpm. To clairfy I failed both times, once at 113db and the second at 117db, but the point I`m trying to prove is that I/it was "watched all the way up to my 3/4 rev range", so sometimes going to 4000rpm is`nt an option.
can some one clarify the correct 3/4 rev range for static noise testing on 997 GT3`s. I thought it was 8400 rpm max and 3/4 range at 6,300
Some days you`ll get lucky, some days you wont!

Re my experience on being watched with previous cars, just depends how lucky you are on how officious a monitor you end up with. Some are helpful and ask you if hitting any buttons will help. I tend to try to rev and hold as low as possible, and wait for them to tell me to push it higher... but I always let the revs drop right down if the needle's heading too quickly clockwise. Sometimes they just give up before you actually get to 3/4 and move you on. Worth a try.
Answered my question whether my first track in it has a chance of being a Silverstone evening for sure anyway!
