Does anyone know how many db a standard C4S and a standard Turbo put out with the factory sports exhaust neither AFN or Porsche GB seem to know?

I asked a similar question a couple of weeks ago on either the trackdays, or the midlands forums. If you want to find somewhere to get it tested try either searching on those forums for "noise limits" or contact the RAC on 01753 765000 for you nearest tester

I've got a C4S with sports exhaust that failed the noise test at Goodwood in December.

Limit on the day was 98db, the 996 was 105 with the exhaust off and 113 with it on. Needless to say they wouldn't let me out.

It's grossly unfair for us rear engined lot, not only does the meter pick up the exhaust noise, but also general engine and gearbox thrash!!

Goodwood ten car days/98db are out for me, but five car days at 105db are OK.

However, Goodwood seem to go purely on the static. I applaud Bedford who failed me on the static, asked if I had any additional muffling (I have, a small 'Tudor mortar' from Merlin at Combe that knocks 2db off...) and pointed out where the trackside mics are and asked me to familiarize myself with them during the warm up session in the morning and to short change or ease of at these points.

No probs all morning, then after lunch I decided, bollox to this, nailed the pedal and was blackflagged within one lap!!

They did let me out again for good behaviour....
