Total number of 996 turbos produced
Discussion
Does anyone know the total number of 996tt that were produced.
I was wondering just how common they are and how rare the might be in the future.
Especially if time shows they are more tune-able and have less systems to go wrong than the 997tt. They might be more desirable ?? who knows
Thanks.

In my opinion, the 997 looks far better inside and out, and will always be more desirable. I was wondering just how common they are and how rare the might be in the future.

a 996tt is NEVER going to be a rare car. LOTS made....
sounds like you are trying to talk yourself into buying one? as an investment? then you are MAD!
if you are buying one as they are great value performance cars then JUST DO IT!

...why anyone would tune a 997tt is beyond me , so fast as standard...
You get used to the power and crave just that little bit more. I own a 997 Turbo and had a stage 1 DMS remap last year. The power is bonkers and this is the first time that I really don't feel the need for any more power for road use. 100MPH is a breeze and 150MPH comes up with just a twitch of the right foot!

I agree power is a drug. Just need more and more. Interesting to know you have a 997tt. Is it PDK. I have a Tip, its another reason I wont be going to K24 18g etc etc etc at the moment. Although there is a mod to the tip ( big mod though) that will allow the tip box to take 600/700+ rwhp. One day... who knows.
however back to earth for a moment, I have to admit my 996tt is all I need.....for now LOL

It would seem 2001 & 2002 are where the largest volumes were sold. As to Turbo S a very small number in any year.
I am pleasantly surprised. I did think there were literally multiple thousands and thousands produced per year. To me 5k to 6k p/year still make them a relatively rare car. I dont see many 996tt when driving about. The only other car I have had which I saw less of on the road was my Escort RS Cosworth. If I ever saw one it was time to use the numbers in the reg and put a quid on the lotto.
Cheers again,
Frank

Evo magazine did a Write up of the DMS remap, although the map was rewritten in early 2009 for approx 550BHP: http://www.evo.co.uk/carreviews/evocarreviews/2082...

...Is that rewritten chip for the 3.6 or 3.8?. I think some people on here are a bit suspicious of DMS figures they tend to err on the high side.
Mine's a 997.1 3.6. I wouldn't go back to a stock remap, the DMS map feels sooo much more flexible and powerful.Edited by Womaniser on Thursday 24th June 21:09

I am amazed at the 993c2s prices. It must be to do with the numbers produced as well.
