friend called me up in hysterics to tell me the following...

he was down at HR Owen Porsche Hatfield earlier this week. Salesman comes out with a couple wanting to buy a 911 cabriolet. Nice new one in from Porsche...turbo'd up...103K all in. The couple like it enormously, test drives take place, sales pretty much secured.

"One thing", says one of the couple "is the hood good?"
"brilliant" says the salesman "watch this" - he then presses the 'hood down' button.

Rather unfortunately, the saleman did not know that this specific car had come with a fault - the electric windows would not go down.....including when the roof was being lowered. There followed and ear-splitting crucshing sound, and all 4 windos imploded into the car simultaneously as the roof tried to go down......

The couple didnt buy anything.......!

Roof problems on Porsche's seem quite common... I borrowed a Boxster that every now and then the roof would decided it did'nt want to go up or down..... usually not up when it decides to start raining

Anyway, that scene must have been priceless

Porsche could have solved that problem if they had not been so preoccupied with building a hog of a SUV.

It's not like it's rocket science, sheesh, look at the Japs, they seem to have figured it out. You could buy a 1957 Ford with a convertible hardtop that stowed in the trunk. It's not as though this is something that needs to be complicated.

Still better than my ex-business partners SL 55 - all windows down, by itself, when locked and only when raining... Great isn't it...
