993RS Buyers Guide
Discussion
Nice work Burzel, the buyers guide in this months PP is great, very simple and informative.
For those yet to read it, I wont spoil it it for you, but those following the other tread on 993RS colours, will be supplied with a great Riviera Blue versus Speed Yellow versus Silver comparison!
Paul, that Speed Yellow car in the central photograph is interesting. Little or no RS kit, but carbon and alluminum bodywork it says. Is it a special or just a lucky bu99ers track toy?

Paul I read the article, which was informative yet simplified.
Going through it I somehow felt that you would have gone into detail a little more tapping into your extensive and unrivalled knowledge of the model.
Was it edited for the magazine?

Yes the article was some what short of my content, but at least it got in the mag. There is a follow up ready at some point.
The yellow car was a R&D factory car, there is also a R&D car in the uk that was used to develop the spoilers and all road tests etc are logged in the cars factory log book, its red and rhd.
The article was designed to be specific and relate to true ownership, and avoid alot of wafull and BS.
My rs should be out for its first competition in may at presscott hillclimb, come along and watch. We can arrange for some tickets.

Never been to Prescott and I would like to check it out, so let me know when it is and I will see if I can come along!
Would be great to see (and hear) your RS at full bore!
Cheers!
I drove Mike Burtt's beautiful 993RS at Silverstone last week. This is the car he and his son had a good placing at the Bill Taylor race at the end of last year.
I tell you, this car which has been setup by Paul Edwards on road tyres and road legal was absolutely 'finger tip' perfect and doing 1 05s. Mike 996 Cup car was only managing 1 02s
What a quick and strong car.

What mods have been made to the RS?
When's Prescott Burzel, I can feel a Pistonhead meet coming along.
BTW, for those that don't know it, Prescott hillclimb is situated north of Cheltenham. Owned by the Bugatti and Ferrari Owners Club, it is in the most delightful situation on western facing slopes with distant views of the Vale of Evesham and the Malverns. Atmosphere most relaxed, take a picnic.
Track interesting too, and feckin scary -the best of luck to you, Burzel!!! Have seen everything from a 1908 Itala to a McLaren M8 go up the hill....I took my old 964 C4 up and didn't get out of second gear....

Going on from prescott which is the 1&2nd of may.
Mike Burt car is a very nice car, good power and lighter than standard, and is also well set up by a very experienced and masterfull racer himself paul edwards.
We raced agaist them in the bill taylor, loosing in the change over of drivers by only 1 second! We put our car on pole for the class, but i then cocked it up by spinning off on the first lap going from 6 th to 15th in one lap,we managed to claw it back to 7 th place in the first 30 mins, and just got back in front of the burt car. Then it was over to the 2 sons to race,of which i was Very pleased with grahams result for his first circuit race.
There car had better grip than mine out of the corners, you could see they were getting on the power earlier.May have been down to rs dampers rather than my cup dampers, which are very hard.Or just simply ,they were better drivers than us!But we did manage a 104.6 around silverstone during the race on road tyres, dunlop D01J.
