I've just run a check via the RAC site on my car's registration, purely out of interest, and am very surprised to see it shown as operating on "liquid gas".
I bought it in January and have been running it perfectly happily on petrol, and there's no sign of any LPG tanks - not something you can easily hide in a 993!
Any idea what's going on?

Funny, I had the same results when i tapped my details in, Let's hope the programmers don't start building engine managment systems.

Maybe they should give their customers t-shirts, R.A.C.P

Thanks for letting me know - I was beginning to wonder whether my car had a dark and mysterious past!
It's probably because they don't know what 'Tiptronic' means, and think it must be a new fuel system!

Same came up when I did a search on the reg of a 968 CS on a local specialist's website. Is this a mod the 968 community want to keep quiet?

Perhaps it's some ruse to escape the Congestion Charge?

Thanks - I like that idea!

Next time I go into the dreaded zone, I won't pay up. I'll simply point Ken's minions at the website and save myself a few quid.

I ran an LPG car for a while myself and I do know that you have to apply for exemption up front. I think also that you have to do it each year and that there's a fee? So I wouldn't count any chickens...it's just that a previous owner may have had some sort of arrangement?

Wouldn't want a fellow PHer to get into trouble on my account!

Thanks again, Dan. I'm guilty of being facetious - I fear it would be too easy for the 'Zone Police' to rumble any spurious claim just by looking at the car!

Mind you, I've nothing against the idea of LPG as a fuel - I gather it'd probably work perfectly well in a Porsche if I could bear to give up what space is left in the luggage bay for the extra tank. However, since this car is for fun and I'm not finding the fuel bill too exhorbitant, I shall stick with petrol. And from where I live, I can get into the West End by train in under 30 minutes door to door - not worth taking the car with traffic the way it is! Last time I did it by car for an evening party it took over an hour to cover less than ten miles, with all the attendant hassle of finding somewhere to park, risking damage to the car and stress to me.
