Morning folks,
Has anyone had cruise retro-fitted to their 987 or 997? I'm guessing its exactly the same process for each.
Looking at a company called Wright tune - http://www.wrightune.co.uk/
£335+VAT seems like a pretty good deal to add it. I miss it like crazy on my Cayman, makes motorway driving so much easier.
If anyone has had it done I would be pleased to hear that it works ok and is easy enough to install.

Just had CC retro'd to my 56 Cayman.
Cost was £326.81 + vat + 1 hours labour from Northway Porsche.
One thing I'm wondernig though is since it's been installed the drivers display no longer shows what audio I'm listening to, it used to say which CD was loaded or "Radio 1" if I'm listening to the radio but it doesn't anymore. Has anyone else experienced the same after installing CC?

To put closure to my thread, I rang up Sheffield OPC on Friday, "Have you got any Cruise control kits in to fit a Cayman?"... "Yes"..."Can you fit it tomorrow?"..."Yes".

Job done. Took them about 1 hour.
Must be said, I'm very pleased with it, ok, its a bit expensive, but I have a few long trips planned around the UK and Europe, and after my last 5 hour stint, my leg/ankle was killing. So I think it's £450 well spent. For comfort more than anything.
I notice it also helps keep my Remus exhaust a bit quieter as the software is able to modulate the throttle slightly better than my right hoof.
The kit is seemless, it looks as if it were fitted at the factory, so I'm a happy chappy.
I'm sure you all know what a Cayman and cruise control stalk looks like inside, but I'm so pleased!

I'm the second owner, so I saved myself £25,000, AND I bought it from OPC Bournemouth. I see you have a very keen eye, the full leather wasn't even picked up by the dealer, or the fact it had the auto dimming mirrors and rain sensor, or the 6 disc changer...Come to think of it, they did get the colour right though 
I'm very pleased with it.
Am I right thinking you had a Cayman S? I see you have the pinnacle of Porsche ownership now, that's where I'd like to be in a couple of years.

Hi mate, yes I had a Cayman S, great car it was too. Very much enjoyed it, and was sad to see it go. I moved country so had to sell...I'm very pleased with it.

The GT3 is awesome, much more raw than the CS, it's the full fat experience for sure. All I can say is it's the perfect step up from the Cayman S, you will not be dissapointed when you pull the trigger on one! But, you have a lovely Cayman S - enjoy it till you feel like moving on. I would have kept mine for another year at least, maybe more if I had stayed in the UK, it was the perfect road car for me in London, perfect amount of power, great usable space, great looks, and I loved it with the Gulf stripes on it (although the Mrs made me take them off after 4-5 months with them on, she got annoyed of the attention, people literally stopped in their tracks and took pictures of it all the time!).

McLaren engineer I spoke with said of all the Porsches they tested during development of the MP4-12C the Cayman S was their favourite. They did not hold the 911 in high regard due to it's non-mid-engined layout.
As for OP - I had Cruise retrofitted by Silverstone for £399 and have managed to make all my money back on it by driving at 65mph and getting 36mpg.

Take delivery of my 3 year Cayman S on Friday, after months of trying to find the right colour combo and spec compromises had to be made!
One of those was the lack of Cruise. Porsche Solihull said it could be retrofitted for about £500, and a few hours labour to fit the parts and modify the cowl.
Having now found this thread, looks like i can get a better deal at Silverstone or at least go back to Solihull and ask them to match it, but was the chap right in saying they have to cut the cowl or is it a new part fitted with stalk? I don't like the idea of someone taking a stanley knife to my car, the results could well be below my expectations!
Can anyone confirm if the retro fit kit replaces the cowl, or how neat is the cut job, can you tell it's a retro fit kit?

All fitted now, £460 and 90 mins work.
On the downside, the guy that fitted it on a Friday afternoon clearly didn't take his time and in his efforts he's slipped and 'stabbed' the warning light panel with his screw driver, scratched the lens on the temp/fuel gauge and taken a chunk out of the dial surround. Plus when he reprogrammed the unit he didn't program the radio display on the dial, forgot to program the tyre monitors and didn't reset my clock!
On the plus side... Porsche have said they will replace the cluster at their expense. Good customer service in my eyes as i expected to have an argument about it! Shame it wasn't done right first time....

Have just had cruise retro-fitted on a 997 by OPC West London. The car has PCM (Sat-Nav and Telephone Module). Before the car went in it was possible to initiate a call on the small display (below the rev counter) and also possible to see the next sat-nav instruction.
Is there any conflict between having Cruise on a 997 and the options available to you on the small display (below the rev counter)? After installation, and after returning to the garage for a technician to take a look, the previously available options are now unavailable.
Would seem faintly ridiculous to be an either/or situation but who knows...
Can anyone confirm either way? Photo evidence would be great if possible.

They need to update the car with the right software. OPC Reading did mine on a 997 and there was no radio display and also, the fuel guage did not read correctly (i.e. said I had half a tank of fuel so when I went to fill up, I could only get 10L in before it was brimmed to overflow) Is there any conflict between having Cruise on a 997 and the options available to you on the small display (below the rev counter)? New software installed, everything is right again
One of the coding processes after the retrofit is to re-code the instrument cluster. During this procedure you have to select all the options relative to the equipment fitted. It sounds like they haven't coded it properly - similar to the poster earlier on in this thread who couldn't get radio stations to display.
