I have just bought a replacement facia panel for my 'lost' Sony CD changer. The car has not had one in for a good few weeks now, anyway, the upshot is that now, when i hit a defect in the road (about every 20ft!in this joke of a nation), the right speaker cuts out. I hiot another hole and hit cuts back in, it's almost certainly a loose connection, but I am struggling to pin it down, I have checked the leads to the CD player in the boot, they are a tight fit, so maybe it's the right speaker, does anyone know how to remove the speaker standard speakers?, or have any advice on where else I should check. The car is a standard 993 with no mods, etc.

It sounds obvious, but if the problem wasn't there before and only the head unit has been disturbed then that's most likely where the problem is.

If you share the same door as the boxster then this may be useful if you do want to get to the speakers.

Once you read it, you will definitely waht to investigate the head unit connections first

You mean it could be a simple as the head unit?, i assumed it was just coincidence that i had replaced the head unit on the basis that it is solid state and this sounds like a loose wire, it cuts in an out over bumps

In engineering, there is rarely such a thing as coincidence......

Besides, head unit out, two minutes. Door skin off, two hours. I know where I would look first.

I would check to see if it's a loose connector from the head unit (or amp in the front boot if fitted) to the loom. After all, that's where the signal to the door starts it's life.

Check the connectors are nice and shiny once you take the loom off. If any look loose, a gentle bit of pressure with a precision screwdriver behind the connector in the loom usually tightens them up.

The CD unit is unlikely to be the problem as that just feeds input TO the head unit/amp. The problem appears to occur after this point.

I am not saying the problem isn't in the door, but it's quite a job getting them off and always look at the easiest problems first.
