He posts over on www.M5board.com under the name lonman. An excellent forum on there dedicated to the Gumball 3000 and other similar events

I'm more interested in the girlie with the Lambo.

No offence Lonman, your donuts are cool but you can't compete with Vicky

That bloke is a good advert for the GT2. Despite the manner in which he drives it, the car never seems to complain. Unlike the Koenniiiiigggsegg-thingy.

Edited for spelling.

that tart in the lambo made me laugh. thought at first she was driving daddy's money, but i got the feeling she done it all herself. good for her.

and you're right johnny - it is an advert for a gt2 - have been talking about it all lunch time at work. seriously tempted, but with a baby due in may, the wife may mutter something...

Ask her in June, she'll be too tired / baby will be screaming too loudly to know what you are talking about

PS. Good luck

RE: the Times today....911 drivers getting flashed...

I just got caught again doing 109 on 70 limit with a laser gun at night from 343 metres...

Waiting for court letter now...

Anyone got any examples of fines etc for this speed...

Cheers

Chris

Chris.

Sorry to hear this.

Might be an idea to put your query over on the Speeding & Plod forum, where you are are more likely to get a reply:

Sorry to hear of that too. For your information I was caught doing 129.1mph on a dual carridgeway, my fine was £200 and a 2 month ban.

Bad news im afraid. For that speed you will be looking at a fine and disqualification. Around two months would be my guess. This could be avoided if u could argue exceptional hardship, I.E loss of licence loss of job. Fine will be in relation to means. If u avoid disq then obigatory penaly points 3 to 6. If u have 6 or more points already then would be looking at a totting disq under the penalty points system of 6 months. sorry.

Seems to also depends what magistrate's court you go to.

3 years ago I was lasered in Kingston, 89 in a 50 (2 x 3 lane dual carriageway). £700 fine and 6 pts, but barrister successfully (?!) argued against a ban.

magistrates have sentancing guidelines. They indicate that they should consider disq at 30 mph plus, hence 100 being the magic figure. normally 103 104 you will be ok any more go prepared to be disqualified. i.e dont drive yourself there. If u would lose your job if banned take some proof in writing. U can then argue exceptional hardship. if your court date is before 17 may then you will be able to see a court duty solicitor. After that date duty solicitors for motoring are banned. goverment trying to save on legal aid bill.

Thanks for you advice....I supose I always knew I was in the Sh1t...don't have any points...ALTHOUGH...I did have a 6 month ban last Dec 2002...so this will not look good...was doing 127 in 70...

Thanks anyway...

Oh, and i heard he was a trader specialising in computer related shares and stocks. Must be bloody minted as he's just got a Gallardo and has a CarreraGT on order. He won't use a car that does less than 200mph in the Gumball.

He's got some hilarious threads on M5board. just search Lonman and read away.

One special one reads:

"There are 3 types of challengers to the GT2. First the hot hatch... no chance. Then the Scooby/Evo type cars... not much chance... then there are superbikes" he then goes on to talka bout a 0-160mph race from Porsche Chiswick up towards Hammersmith. Quality reading.

GREAT NEWS!!!! spoke to the mrs... don't know whether it's hormones or she wasn't listening, but either way she didn't say no to idea of the gt2. admittedly didn't tell her the whole truth about what it is and what it can do, but as they say, what you don't know won't hurt you. what a great marriage of deception and half truths...

I do this too:

Her: won't you lose lots on your old car trading for one of those?

me: (launches into a 10 minute technobabble about future residual values skewing it to the "we'll actually be better off trading up to a GT3RS, even though it's 30 grand more" slant)

her: errrrrrrrr..... .... ok!

You may be right with the GT3RS tho'... look at the values of 993tts compared to 993RSs.

993tt new - 91k
993tt now - 38k+

993RS new - 68k
993RS now - 40k +
