Absolute f@cking bollocks.

I always fancied myself as something of a regular down at the Tweakers Anonymous meetings but it looks like the sad effect of behavioural rectitude masquerading as financial common sense has finally descended.

Before the considerations of full roll cagitus, Dom-spec strippage and other lightening techniques can be broached, the initial quotes are well, simply outrageous (and I thought I had prepared myself for silly season!)

Which means it's back to the drawing board for more modest, probably Lotastic thrills.

Damn, blast & dare I venture it, double drat?

DeR,

How much was the quote?

I'm guessing £20k+ as it would involve a full engine strip and rebuild with custom parts..........

Get yourself along to a PCGB track day again, my friend. Plant the pedal, in such a cliched way, to the metal and forget these foolish notions of sheer outright velocity...

Instead savour the sheer torture the machine so willingly undergoes to hurl one around the ultimate challenge that is the racing circuit...

In short - your machine has more than enough power to embarrass, nay utterly humiliate, so many others once confined to the undulating curves of venues like Silverstone and Brands Hatch...and one has the added bonus of the thrill of new skills, practically employed.

See you out there. And I'm coming past.

But only if its very, very wet. And editied to get it right.

DeR, is this truly you or an imposter using your log on. I didn't think rational thought was anything to do with reaching 200mph.
Don has a point about driver training to get the best out of your car.
if this is all too sensible drop me a mail and i can put you in touch with the beast I mentioned, maybe a more cost effective way of getting the job done.

Get a few lightened bits (kevlar doors and wing) and a cage. You can have enough fun there.

Also speak to BS Motorsport as they will do the work much cheaper than Tech 9 at a guess, as Phil H sends his cars away for the work whereas BS will do it themselves using local labour. And Bicester brawn is cheaper than Munich manpower BS have done a GT2 engine with 1000bhp and 600bhp is par for the course with them.

Sorry to hear you're abandoning the ongoing developement, but I had a feeling the last hurdle of the race was going to cost a bloody fortune.

Ignore the above, I'm pleased you're keeping the car as it is.

I thought top speed was the result of power, frontal area and CoD, if so then lightweight bits will not help at all...........just the 0-100 dash methinks.

true if you have unlimited space, but the reality in this country is that anywhere you are likely to be trying to hit Vmax, you will be doing it in a fixed and quite short space so accelerating as hard as you can all the way in which case lighter speed would help (a bit).

On the frontal area angle, have you thought about a lakester style roof-chop?

The car you have as it stands remains to be the best car I have ever had the fortune of travelling in.

This is but a fag burn in the rich tapestry of life.

For Lotus shenanigans that new Exige is lovely looking...

On and indeed on.

There is much to commend spending your time travelling very rapidly around the twisties.

Get yourself a light, fast trackday toy and indulge in generating high lateral G in an environment where the lowlife can't touch you.

Fear not, for the Beetlespurter will always be available for laying waste to the northern reaches when your long nurtured urges surface.

So, an Elise/Exige or Caterfield should fit the bill nicely. Revel in the Chapman ideal and feast in the revelation of high power:weight ratios.

Remember: absolute power corrupts, absolutely.

Chin chin.

You know what they say DeR; when the going gets tough, cheat.

Never mind sending your engine off to Nasa, couple of bottles of nitrous and a Burbery baseball cap is all you need. Fifty sobs max from your local Chav.

I would have to agree with Kev.

If the magic double ton is your aim, and you are content with current non linear performance, then Nitrous is the way to go. Because it's only there when you want it, it doesn't affect driveability, and a decent setup shouldn't be more than £3k.

Having achived the double ton twice myself (Buggati EB110 and a 959)I suggest going 200mph in somebody elses car a few times and get it out of the system.then sit down and chill, and spend the £££s on someting else silly but gratifying.

Fear not DeR, could you take some driver training, such as Drive Ride or some track tutoring to enhance your already very able driving skills? To appease your need for top speed, better exploiting your car on the track may help your addiction....if that fails try methadone

Your car is already a total beast, I like to drive hard, but you honestly proper frightened me flying round the 180 corner onto the Brunters straight......nearly touched cloth infact !
