Chipex paint chip treatment - feedback

A few people wanted to know how I got on with the Chipex system mentioned in the last PCGB Porsche Post magazine. Now that we are just above freezing point I gave it a go. My Midnight Blue 993 Coupe had the classic gravel rash under the lights, lower part of the bonnet and of course the bumper. These chips were quite prominent, being grey & white against the dark blue paint.
The kit was delivered to my office the next day and the instructions were very clear – even for me. It is a real shame that I did not take before-and-after photographs because the results are quite remarkable. It was mixed to a perfect paint code match and I actually think I have avoided a front end respray. There is enough of the kit provided to keep the stone chips at bay for many years.
Bought direct through the chipex.co.uk website and using the discount code PORSCHE10 which gave me 15% off.

Hi guys (and Girls) I know this a very late reply (we only just got ourself onto Pistonheads!) be we were wondering if any one had any feedback on their experience with the touch up paint? Hi. I bought some from you at the PCGB event 2 years ago for my polar silver 993.
I really like the principle of it and I am sure it works on flat colours but on polar silver I am afraid it just does not work at all and despite numerous attempts looks like any other touch up stick.
Good luck with it anyway and if I had a flat colour car I would give it another go.

I've done the front bumper of my GT3 which was quite stone-chipped.
It's not invisible but it does take your eye off the chips as mine were through to the white base on the front bumper. It will certainly tide me over until I get the front sprayed.
I'd look at it as a stop-gap to make things presentable again, but not a permanent solution or alternative to a respray. In my case red chips are better than white chips though, so I'm happy enough for the £50 outlay.
Quite rewarding to use and it does make a difference. Much faster and easier to use than a traditional touch-up pen and it only leaves the paint in the chip, not around it or above the level of the original paint.

With this in mind, I purchased the Dr Color Chip touch up and this was perfect. I sold my 996 last year but still have plenty left as I bought the full rash kit.

I tried the Porsche touch up on my Seal Grey 996 and the paint dried very dark grey where I had used the touch up. Both the bodyshop and OPC parts desk confirmed that this is a standard issue with Seal Grey Touch up.

I'm waiting for delivery of an Atlas Grey Chipex kit. I'm hoping that it will go some way to sorting out the small chips / gravel rash on the rear wings of my Boxster (underneath the vents), the chips are starting to do my head in so will be a result if it works!

Thanks for the feedback Charles. My kit arrived yesterday but the weather since has prevented me from getting on with sorting the chips out.Any words of wisdom before I start or is it a case of just follow the instructions?
