Guys, I have read about this in a few places but I am not totally clear...

I have been getting condensation inside the car and couldnt source it. Yesterday I noticed that the 'material' panel on the drivers door was physically dripping wet (well, the bottom of it) and this would seem to be the likely cause. I have checked the floors and they do seem to be dry, so I guess it is not because the drainage for the hood is blocked. So what it it likely to be? Could the door seal simply be a bit tired (it is not split) so water will get in there (I guess most notably when I power hose the car)? Or is there something internal in the door such that water might be actually inside the door and wetting from the inside and out?

Hello,

It will be the door membrane behind the trim panel, these are glued on and over time leak.

It will need the trim panel removing and a new membrane fitting, £37.00 for membrane and around 1.2hours to replace it as it takes a while to get the glue off the door!

Ah that is good, the door seal looks to be over £100 so £37 sounds better. Is this something I can do myself with a bit of patience? I am running to my indie all the time and think it is about time I started to do a few things for myself!

Inidentally.... the door was replaced a couple of years back by an OPC... is it worth going to them and trying to get them to sort it?

Well then probably worth giving them a call then! If they refuse, then time to pull it apart myself.

up to 993's I see your point but all the later 9x6 cars have a formed membrane with adhesive to stop leaks which also affects acoustics - plastic will not work - and for the price of the OE part not worth trying.

IMHO just get OPC or a quality indie to do this.

Far better things that I would be doing rather than saving £200 doing this job... and that includes watching Wasps lose frown

Hi. I have had the 'wet door' problem with my Boster 2000 for a couple of years and just forgot/put off the fix. Anyway, yesterday I took the door panel off (very very easy, there is a coupld of youtube vids showing how to, search Boxster door panel and you should find it)......
I could not find anything wrong with th membrane which is usualy the problem, what I found was at the bottom of the speaker sealed enclosure (this is pretty big and not sure what it houses, apart from the speaker that is...) water had filled the area as it is like a bucket. so....rightly or wrongly, I split the membrane at the bottom which now allows any water to continue inside the door and exit the drain holes which it should....
so.....investigate first before buying new membrane....
hope this helps, took half hour.
cheers

Hi if the door was replaced/repaired by the OPC approved repairer and you have had the work inspected every year,as per the lifetime guarantee, then the bodyshop will fix it foc.
The opc bodyshop guarantee the work for life as long as its inspected every year.
