Hi guys i hope you can help, i have a 1990 G reg 964 convertible with 167k miles with full service history, i am looking to strip down including interior myself so i can spend more on paint job, will new paint reduce value as car is in really good condition but has one bubble on NS, interior is in really good nick, does anyone know of a step by step manual to strip down efficiently? Any tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Lee

I'm no expert, but perhaps this would get a better response in the Porsche section?

I'd say a documented (too prove not hiding crash damage) GOOD same colour full respray would increase value. If its at all 2nd rate with overspray on seals etc then it'd decrease value, as you are talking about stripping the car down then this shouldn't be an issue.

If you strip it down to a bare shell and re-spray it prim and proper inside and out, I can see it increasing in value by quite an amount. To go to that extreme may aswell be taken on as a full restoration so could rebuild the engine, gearbox, suspension etc if budget allows. I think I have OCD though...

If it's in good condition apart from one rust bubble - why are you going for a full respray rather than just having that rust spot / panel painted?

@ davek a local paint shop advised that it could possibly the start of a downhill trend, so i thought best to get done properly. Thanks
Does anyone know of a good manual to strip down methodically?
