Following on from my seat discussion.

Have an offer on a peridot car which is OK, but come resale will it be a lemon?

You might want to change your thread title or at least add a '?' - it won't help your cause when people are searching PH or googling for discussions on the colour in the future!

I like it myself, it's the 'signature' colour for the car.

I don't think you'd have any problems with that colour - it looks great! As has been mentioned, the launch cars were in it, so that colour will become synonymous with the Cayman R.

Looks awesome, I'd seek one out if I was buying.

I also like the colour, especially on the 'R'.

As a matter of interest, what seats does the Peridot car have, surely buckets ?

I think this colour looks the dogs bollix on the Cayman R. I think you'd want whipping to refuse a Peridot R imho

On the contrary, I think it will add value, synonymous with the CR.

Has the colour not been withdrawn because of issues with it at the factory though ?

But , in any case, best colour for the car and I'd be looking for one if or when I go for a CR .....

I've read on here about possible paint issues with peridot but only on here, so I think it's worth asking the question before you buy it in this colour. FWIW, I think it looks really good on the Cayman R. Just make sure you stick with the standard bucket seats.

+1 - just make sure to get PCCBs on it, even if it is just for the yellow calipers that go so well with this shade of green biggrin

The argument that Peridot will be synonymous with the Cayman R doesn't hold as much water as it once did, since you can now spec this colour across the entire Cayman range.

Personally I think that Porsche should have kept it specifically for the R until the next gen car appears.

It seems strange to bring in a totally new colour for a specific model launch, then before that model even hits the street, offer said colour across other models.

I'm still not completely sure about Peridot myself, but then it's a bit moot since I already have my car, and it's red smile

Peridot is free on R but £615 for other Caymans.

I heard that they have dis-continued Peridot green on the Cayman R.

I think it was on hold for a while and disapeared off the configurator. Its back now. The car I am looking at is physical built.

They removed it from the configurator for a while as they had problems with it, but it is back on there and available again now.

ETA: Beaten to it by Chins!

I know that, but originally Peridot was ONLY available on the R unless you went down the PTS route.

Now that it's basically a standard metallic colour on the other Caymans, it won't be as much of a signature for the R.

Let's face it, most Porsche buyers don't seem to mind paying the extra for metallic, hence the amount of Basalt Black and Silver cars out there.

I dont really buy into the launch colour effect...

Exhibit A (rarer than RHP)

Exhibit B (in 1996 this was the future but it hasn't aged particularly well IMO)

Peridot reminds me of my Dad's old Hilman Hunter and it has to qualify as a Marmite colour - which isn't a bad thing per se.

However in a year or two's time, how many OPC's would want to have two, or even three, of them on their forecourt in that colour at the same time?
