Hallo, I recentry became proud owner of a Tuscan Mk1. Having driven the car for a few miles only my impression is that the seat don`t grip as tight as I think they should do. Might be that I need to eat a bit more but an alternative could be to mould new side supports for the seat. They just appear to be too wide for me. Can anybody give me some advice how to remove those side supports of the seat without creating any damage? I think I know where to find-, and how to remove the lower bolts but what about the top ones at the head rest? Are they fixed from the back of the seats, and how can I remove the back panel of the seat? Hope one of you can guide me to the right way of disassembeling the seats, ideal would be some pics to explain.

To remove the back cover, there are 2 bolts at the bottom and 2 bolts underneath the badge, the badge is just glued and you should be able to prise it off just take it easy.

Hope that helps,

I will give it a try. Will use a hot air gun to carefully peal off the badge. I would expect to find the fixation bolts of the side support somewhere behind the back panel.

I have a feeling it is welded, but haven't taken mine off yet. I have some new backs to go on, and a bolster to look at.

I'm also quite sure the side support frame is welded, as the drivers one is cracked on mine, had a look , but no easy fix, so just left it for the time being.

I agree, the side frames are welded as I need one sorting but as it's the inside one it's not an urgent task.

Mine as well, I am sure they all break at some time?

so you think that I would need to remove the leather and foam to get access to the frames and reweld it into the desired position? THat would result in a serious effort (and risc).

Hi
You can fix the broken part as i have repaired Tuscan seat's, you need to make a plate up in the shape of a pipe clip and wrap that aroun the broken metal rod and bolt this to the side frame of the seat.
The repair is stronger than the TVR weld and invisible. Other than that the leather and foam would need removing to facilitate a weld.

just to finish this topic, today I dissassembles a seat and took some pictures to show how things look like. This is the bottom bracket, in my case one wire and the fitting is broken. The bottom bracket is attached by a 6hex and 17 key nut:

The top attachment is a similar design and screw fixed the the connection of the horizontal seat brace and the left seat pillar. It is screwed straight into the metal frame with no nut (yes, nut it is rivited to the rail). On the pictures you can see where to locate the bolt (10 key size):

In the end it does not really help to get the side supports of the seat off because the leather of the side support is wrapps around the head rest. To remove it all you would need to cut the stiching around the head rest.
