Afternoon all,

About two weeks ago my boot refused to open, I had no noise at all when pushing the (rather sexy) Tuscan boot button.

Well after learning from you guys how to get the boot open, and also how the boot solenoid works (pushing the Tuscan boot badge, just pushes a button behind it which just completes a circuit if you don't know).

So, after taking off the Tuscan badge, and revealing the button behind it, I took it out and just tied a piece of speaker wire I had in my tool box across the wire terminals;

unfortunately nothing frown
So while I was taking the above picture to put back on here and ask if it has to be a faulty solenoid, I started hearing a noise, and as it got louder i realised my boot button had come back to life! Woohoo!!

So I took the speaker wire off, and now it opens first time every time, unlike before.

So if your boot no longer opens give this a try first!

So for such an easy fix, I treated her to a two bucket wash, with a coat of Z8 and some new windscreen wipers for good measure.

Then a good booting round to my dads place where I took this; (sorry, couldnt help it wink

Cheers,

Brad.

Brad,
From time to time my boot decides it's time to play games.

I find that if I squirt some contact spray onto the button contacts as per your 'photo, and open the rubber 'bung' in the boot and spray the solenoid and linkage to the catch, the mechanism revives and seems to soldier on for another 6 months or so.
Effectively, the release button just completes the earth return to the solenoid.
