You don't have to use Optimax, I know some do, but I think you'll find than normal unleaded is the petrol to use as specified by TVR.

1) 6k service - £675 main dealer, 12k service - £1,150 main dealer.
2) 19-22mpg around town, > 28mpg on a run as reasonable speeds !!
3) Isurance £625, with Direct Line.

I've only had a 6000 mile service so far, and that came in at less than £500.

Insurance really depends on your age, NCD, location etc., although if you can't get cheaper through any of the following then it's probably fair to say your quote is good:

Tesco
Privilege
Sunninghill
Mannings
Peart
Direct Line
Liverpool Victoria

MPG for me has averaged out at around 22-23 mpg overall, which I don't think is too bad at all!

When I bought mine recently I was quoted the following for servicing :

6000 service aprox £500
12000 service aprox £800 + tappits at aprox £250

Insurance, I have been quoted £1200 but hope to pay less than that as I'm an old man now.

With regards to MPG, I did not have the car long enough to know, I would guess about 22 avaerage or slightly less. Oil I added a small amount in 300 miles but that was it.

Hope this helps

How the heck did you get £600 for insurance? I did not try driect line because they refused to quote on my Alfa Spider years back. I'm with their sister company Privelige and pay about £900.

Well done

I'm 40+ too....
I just went onto Direct Line's web site and got a quote for £780 which is a bit of a piss take as Privelige are owned by Direct Line. The best I could get from Privelige was £880, so they are in for a bit of a kicking....

That's cheap insurance.... I don;t think it will stay that way though. Tesco are paying for my hire car at the moment whilst mine is being fixed. I have a TVR on hire...

Just had 12000 mile service plus some fixes (exhaust needed welding back on, blown bulbs etc...) £650 at main dealer.

MPG approx 20, 25 on a good run.

Insurance £850 unlimited mileage, full NCB, 3 points, from PEART.

I am a bit alarmed at some of the 12000 mile service prices quoted, are they being serviced by Peter Wheeler personally?

Hi chim450, where did you get your 12,000 mile service from? 650 is pretty good, what about tappets?

Christopher Neils in Cheshire did the service. They had a good look at the tappets and decided they didn't need adjusting (engine has had a rebuild less than 10,000 miles before), they also looked at the cam followers and valve guides the 2 most common failures of the speed 6.

I have always had excellent service with them, and prices are pretty reasonable too.

[mutter]... Valve guides. Pah. Bleeding valve guides. Don't forget the throttle bodies too. [mutter some more]... back to work to try and earn the money for the rebuild now...

(Oh, and I've found TVR Power to do really good prices for a dealer.)

Its 1 year since I got the tuscan. So far its cost me a bit more than I anticipated however not much more than the Chimaera.

Costs can be found here www.pistonheads.com/members/showCar.asp?carId=7635

service 600-1000 depending on tappets
mpg 22.3 (over 9.7k miles)
insurance £700

Tyres, lambda sensors and other odds and sods brings runing costs to about 49p per mile excluding depreciation.

The posted service costs do not include wear items like clutches, brake pads and disks, shock absorbers (don't last forever).
my services have been:
6000 £400 or there abouts
12000 £2500
My car has only 7000 miles on the clock but i have serviced it rigorously 6000 service if it needs it or not and 12000 on alternate years.
These prices are with Peninsula who are cheaper than most but on a par I think with TVR Power.
The 12000 mile service was about £800-£1000 naked including vat but a burst shocker added £1000 for a set of Nitrons(my choice) plus a couple of hundred for setting right a large number of minor bitches. Plus insurance for the courtesy car.
IMHO huge value for money BUT not cheap.
TVR Peninsula are I believe the cheapest main dealer in the Exeter area for any manufacturer in pounds per hour but TVRs do need a few more hours.
TVR service costs are not scary but they are specialist vehicles which need looking after properly. It will die quickly if not cared for.

I agree with 28ish mpg on a run, but I don´t know how the hell you are all getting 20+ mpg in town driving. Mine´s nearer 15.

My 18k service was nearly 700 quid with my dealer, but will be using the Factory for the 24k one.
