Recently had the clutch action go a bit strange not as smooth as normal so thought I better get it checked out , turns out the slave cylinder was partially seized although seal ok & not loosing any hydraulic fluid. So one new slave cylinder and that was sorted however the cats had to be taken off to allow removal of the gearbox and have been told they are both are damaged & require replacing. The price of new ones according to TVR gear is in excess of £700 each .Has anyone had their cats replaced/rebuilt at a cheaper price than this? I know de-cat pipes are available and am thinking about these but still need to get it through the MOT so need a good set for that.

i've seen an ad somewhere for replacement cats £200 each IIRC, i will try to find it. Or you could borrow a pair for the mot and just have decat pipes

Alan that would be useful although I still may go the de-cat route apart from MOT time, but it may be too loud with CCC can's as well Although before anything is replaced the reason for cat's melting must be found.

TVR replaced one of my cats recently at £450 plus fitting and VAT, so a little bit cheaper than TVR Gear!!

When I had my engine rebuilt, they left me one of the cats (is there two?) in the boot and it was a melted mess of cat stuff!! I presume this was to do with the fact that the engine was burning oil!!
