Just saw this on Power's website. Does anyone have one or know if it makes a difference?

It's definitely lighter. Have one on the T350R racer as does Kev on his race tuscan.

Was talking to Matt at Sebring re a replacement for the under the engine too.

How much difference can it make? A few pounds lighter is a couple of litres of fuel. Unless it solves another problem I'd put it in the same category as carbon fibre bonnets on barrymobiles.

Sorry Dom biggrin

Would it not help with getting rid of excess heat?

The front one is bloody heavy i know that!

Changing that would knock quite a few lbs off, but not sure it would be worth it

I thought it was just a substitute replacement part of the original alloy plate one which is probably no longer available?

I think unless your going to start an entire program of weight reduction - i.e wheels, seats, air con, carbon fibre panels, diet for the driver (in my case) then i wouldnt be spending my hard earned here!!

IMO its a nice to have, after all of the other priority things that these cars need* such as engine work, suspension / geo work, aero work, etc etc etc!!

  • need is subjective i guess!!

Ok, whatever it's made from, at least it doesn't rust after it gets scraped.

What's that revised one made out of? Looks like powder coated steel? A few scrapes and that thing will rust away merilly. smile

Just wondered if it made any difference in terms of chassis stiffening. If it's only a weight thing then not worth it as I could shed a lot more by taking all my crap out of the boot.

This is the point it was developed for, not to lose weight, but increase stiffening in compression.

I think you'd have to be going some to notice the difference though.
