Hi all,

Just picked up a 2003 mk1 this morning, wow is it different to the chim!!

3 funnies that i could do with some help with :

All was well on the test drive, these just appeared on the way home.

1) Diagnostic fault code 'A' - any ideas ?
2) Speedo needle very random, sometimes appears low, other times reading fast. The digital speed read out appears as expected ; although haven't checked with sat nav yet.
3) And finally the boot release microswitch appears a bit temperamental. Nearly had an embarrassing moment at the petrol station when i couldn't open the boot. Is there a 'knack' or can the microswitch be reset.

Any advice must appreciated.

Cheers Keith

The boot release probably needs a 2p piece installed behind the badge.
Fault code A is :A - Speedo sensor not activating zero switch. If it only comes on when you start up and then goes away you can probably ignore it, except it may be linked to the speedo problem
Speedo, mine is erratic over about 140 mph smile

I've had the same with the boot... I guess patience is a virtue, I spent 20 mn at the gas station trying to open the boot tongue out
And I haven't had a prob with it since !!

Could check the sensor first, make sure it is not cruded up and the right distance away.

Has the LCD been replaced? Could be the needle is dragging a little.
