The manual is a little misleading re. running-in..
Discussion
Various threads cover this issue. If you do a search for 'running in' on the Tuscan Speed 6 Forum a whole host will appear!
Here's a bit of info I cut from Nick Elliots post though...
A good run in engine and a properly warmed up engine will last and you should not get any of the issues that crop up with these engines. For the 1000-2000 we took ours up to 4000 on a regular basis (when warmed up of course) and occasionally up to 4500/5000. But not often.
Can't stress enough about the warming up though. It is vital that the oil warms up before you give it some JLP*. This is what we do anyway:
Up to 40 deg keep it below 3000
Up to 50 take it to 4500
Between 60 and 80 take it to 6/6500
Don't give it max (7200 is when the limiter kicks in)
until oil temp is about 80 deg
Never labour the engine either. A huge part of driving this car is listening and feeling what it is telling you and responding appropriately.
Oh...and NEVER boot it unless you are in a straight line on a dry road, you will do 360s as soon as blink. Take it easy on roundabouts cos there is far more 'diesel' spilt on them when driving a Tuscan than for any other car!
When ours went for its 6k service at TVR Power the mechanic was really impressed with the way the engine was running and brought the spark plugs out for us to see cos they were all a perfect biscuit brown.
Last piece of unsolicited advice
- go on a Ride Drive course if you have never driven a powerful RWD car before. It may save your wallet or your life, or both.

Nick Elliot on another thread said:
First 250 miles vary the engine speed although not more than 3K RPM and avoid constant speeds, after that occasional excersions up to 4K RPM are OK as it helps bed the piston rings in.After 1000 mile service you can then gradually increase the engine revs.
One very important item is alway warm up the engine carefully < 3K RPM until both water and oil are at normal operating temperature ie water 80 Deg.C and oil 60 Deg.C
