How do I change..................

the battery on my Tuscan. I believe it is somewhere behind the front near side wheel but how do I change it? Can I go in from underneath or is it a bonnet off job?

Jack the front left side up, remove the wheel, there is an access panel, unscrew it and there is the battery, hey presto!! (pretty certain thats how to do it!!!)

Thanks, sounds easy enough however I've just spoken to my local stealer, errrr....dealer and they want to charge me £60 + VAT for the battery and another £52 + VAT just to fit it as they reckon the whole bonnet has to come off

Avoid that dealer then, they obviously don't know what they are doing, or they do know and are trying to rip you off!

It is an easy DIY job to swap the battery. As said before: jack it up, couple of screws to get the access panel off - and you are in. There may be a little securing bracket holding down the lip of the battery - unbolt it, then pull the battery out carefully, getting ready to take its weight. Undo the terminals - and have your alarm remote to hand to turn the alarm off when the terminals come off. (Car will think someone is trying to nick it - so alarm will sound off internal rechargeable). Then put it all back together.

Battery price sounds about right. Its easier to get one from a dealer (usually TVR branded) because it will have the correct cold crank rating - about 620-630 Amp. Halfrauds etc will probably sell you a battery with the right code on it, but wrong capacity for such a big engine. The dealer route us easiest and £60+VAT is the norm.

But when they get it wrong and blow your car up, they'll send you a cheque for £600 to make up for it.
