As a very new Tuscan owner (I bought that one in St Albans in the end) I think I've done something stupid - not buying the car...love it already (selling my MG that I've had for 21 years to make space in the garage...).

On the drive home the speedo went nuts - 236 mph, then fell to zero, and has stayed there. Not had a chance to clear the sensor yet, BUT this may have a bearing on my real problem...

The doors won't open from the inside. The car locks and unlocks, and the external controls on both sides work, but when I am in it, the central dial does not unlock either door. The illumination is green when I get in, orange if I try to open a door, and then, if I try too often, red.

Only way out is to open the windows....

I think it started when I moved the car with the passenger door slightly open.
Any clues?

and while I am asking - what are the three knobs for (labeled A, B, C) on the LH of the dash?

and...I get 'access denied' when trying to read one of the menus (RECALL I think it is) on the pod - any idea what that is.(s/w version is 3.06)

Other than this..love my 3.6 2005-plate MKII. Just wish I had an owners manual!

The internal door dial illumination usually turns from green to orange when above a certain speed, and prevents the doors from being opened until stationary. If you have a speed sensor problem this is possibly causing the problem. Normally the illumination only goes to red when locked & the alarm/immobiliser are active.

nice...

so back to the doors...how do I get the centre console off for a Mk II?. Not the one covering the handbrake/gear lever (forums have been good on this..undo the screws)...but the one with the door lock control and stereo in it.

I cannot see any fixings for this, although I admit I've not taken the main (gearstick/ handbrake) console off yet.

Thanks for all the help so far.

Hi, I had a door issue with mine for months, it would occasionally lock me in or out even when it was actually unlocked. The problem got worse so that eventually the only way to open the doors was to hold down the boot switch whilst pressing the door release under the mirror! The interior release switch would also flash like a christmas tree when I tried to open the doors then after 30 seconds or so would go back to flashing red.

Several months and auto electricians later it was finally traced to the window control boxes. I had these stripped down and reconditioned and the problem is now sorted!

May not be the same issue but it does sound similar so worth a mention.

Door problem needed the switch removing and reconditioning. Speedo problem - sensors cleaned, it worked for ~ 35 miles, so it's back to the dealer again next week. frown ... And the rear dampers seem to be leaking...
