...and the car seems to choose which one that happens to be! Done a few searches but can't find any problems quite like this.

I first off assumed it must be the switch because it was only happening to the driver's side wing mirror button (the interior ones work fine). I had been gaining access via the passenger door, however a few times this week that one wont work and the driver's one will!

The car was laid up for a few weeks whilst away on holiday (usually used daily) and when the door wouldn't open assumed the battery must have run flat, but as it turned out it had held its charge very well.

Any ideas? confused

Do the windows drop or is it just no response?

No response. As if the switch is broken.

the control units are under the centre console - would be worth checking the security of the connections

Swapped over the control units with one another and no difference, so next worked at getting to the button by removing the wing mirror.

As I was clonking the wing mirror between it's folded in and out position, the button started to work briefly. So rather hoping it's a dodgy connection inside. Got as far as undoing the bolts so it hung by the wires then gave up as couldn't work out to dismantle it further. Will do a bit more research before trying again!

I managed to resolve this yesterday.

I removed the door card and found that a wire had broken free from one of the black plastic plugs (which were all soaking wet from water draining through the door after washing the car!). It had corroded and snapped. Couldn't see anyway of taking the plug apart so stripped the wire down and wedged it back in as best as possible. All working fine so far and will get around to doing a proper fix sometime.

Is it normal for the water to drain through the door soaking all the wires like that? Seems a bit odd to me. I know the drain holes indicate that they expected water to get in there, just thought they'd protect the wiring a bit better.
