what is wrong with ricers ?
Discussion
I'm pottering along minding me own business and an Evo appears in my mirrors then when I pull over commences inducing his own tuned in pops and bangs in some sort of bang off !
I don't like jap cars but never deny their ability... I just don't like them
But why are the drivers nearly always so ....odd.
I'm like mate my car just makes this noise. I didn't have to tune it specially... If u want bangs just buy one of these...otherwise ..eff off !

Yep just as cheap as many tvr's and also just as expensive as the pricier ones.
But most wedges, S's or cheap chimeara's dont have the max power or bling factor which appeals to your typical cheap drive about the high street jap power owner.. but hey I may just be generalising.m4tti said:

Basically statements like that make you sound like a bit of a tool.

It doesnt really make me look like a tool. It a plain observation. Im happy to stick my neck out right or wrong, and provide a perception of what goes up and down a lot of high streets on a saturday night. Your high street may be different though which I have no trouble in beleiveing, hence the disclaimer about generalising

I'd love to see this high street full of evos. Lots of motoring enthusiasts your way perhaps, or a local evo meet.
Either that or you are getting confused with what you are more likely seeing, civics, golfs, corsas, fiestas etc.
I would suggest that if your local high street is always full of evos then you must live in a particularly affluent area.

I've had a bit of this from Evo and Scuby drivers and I dont see a problem.
They have always appeared to me to be encoureging me to 'make a bit of noise' which I am happy to oblige and which normally finishes with friendly waves.
Like us they are obviously Piston Head types who enjoy performance cars.
Similarly I've had cars such as Fiestas behind me blipping their engines so that I will make their day with a good rasp of the Speed6 - smiles all round

Rb5Er do you drive a TVR?
Would imagine with RB5 as part of his name he has one of the Robbie Burns limited edition subarus which to me suggests an enthusiast not a pick it up for a couple of grand and bling it idiot.Whilst totally different to our TVRs I can see the appeal of an exceptionally fast all weather all surface car like the Scooby/ EVO/ GTR etc, all elements of the motoring world have their idiots and it seems a touch harsh to tar the "ricers" with this image.

Laser: Thank you, nice to hear some sense.
Idiots could end up in any marque of car, and many do, I have seen fools treat very poorly and even smash up or tastelessly modify Lamborghinis before just as I have seen done with a corsa. Money does not make a fool any less of a fool, it just makes him/her a rich fool.
But then by contrast even a corsa or similar could be owned by a well mannered enthusiast with some connection to the marque.
These days I often see poorly modified "premium German" cars, more often than any other make of tastelessly customised car but I dont automatically say everyone in a German car is an idiot.

Blimey. I never called anyone an idiot !
Sorry bananaface never suggested you called anyone an idiot but describe them how you will there are the odds/ idiots about all over the place.
I appear to of poked a wasp nest here but again I do admit to of being in admiration of the cars and their engineering, I guess as u say its idiots I don't like.
Dont think you poked a wasps nest at all, you described it as it was, possibly lumping all "ricers" together was a bit unfortunate. All the owners I have met have been very appreciative of our TVRs, many of them running both an RB5, P1 or similar and a TVR ( lucky buggers), in the same way I think many TIV owners appreciate the ability of the Jap 4 wheel drive cars not necessarily their cup of tea but amazing all the same.Sorry bananaface never suggested you called anyone an idiot but describe them how you will there are the odds/ idiots about all over the place.

I ran a couple of Toyota Supra's before I got the Tuscan, the last Supra I had was running 400bhp and had a not so subtle body kit, I just had to get it out of my system. I could have spent 6-12k on a single turbo conversion and boost the power to 650bhp but I just couldn't justify spending that much on a Toyota, so got something a little more special.
As has been said before there are idiots in all makes of car.
