Sourcing CCC exhaust cans
Discussion
Good afternoon all,
Last weekend, I put my Tuscan S in for its first service, and on the way to the garage, one of the stainless Carbon Can Co. exhaust cans fell off. Sadly this means I need a new exhaust can, but CCC no longer exist (although apparently they're now Powertech?) and Powertech don't have the tooling to make the exact same can for a replacement (the domed end being the part they can't do). I was wondering if anyone happened to have some lying around in a garage that I might be able to buy from them? I only need a single end can, I don't have any photos (the car's in for its service) but it was a stainless steel item with a Carbon Can Co. badge on the side and the domed end type. Bit of a long shot but worth a try!
If this search is fruitless, I expect I'll go for a new pair of silenced stainless replacements, as I'm not that fond of the carbonfibre version. Any recommendations welcomed. Of course, if anyone happens to have found a stainless steel can by the side of the A68 near Hexham in the last couple of days, I'd love to hear from you!
Thanks in advance,
Eric

Just to put the record straight Powertech are NOT Carbon Can Co, it is a business now 3 years old run by an ex director of CCC. The tooling for the original factory style end caps no longer exists (the style you have), tooling was remade by myself to a slightly flatter snub nosed design that is now the only Tuscan can on the market.
Have you got the unsilenced versions or the quiet ones, if it's the quiet cans there were very few of these made with the original tooling so you probably won't be able to find any now.

Hi Simon,
Thanks for your response, the existing cans I have couldn't be called quiet, so I guess they must be the unsilenced ones? If no secondhand cans turn up in the next day or so, I expect you'll be getting an order for a pair of your new style stainless cans from Hexham Horseless Carriages! Do you have noise figures for the different variants (silenced or unsilenced) that might be available? If the silenced ones bring the noise below track day limits (typically 105dB) then that might make a difference to my choice.
Thanks,
Eric

How about trying a breakers yard.
I had a stainless cans on my first Tuscan which sounded lovely.
I wrote that Tuscan off a couple of years ago but I would have thought you may have a chance with other cars.
My latest Tuscan has Powertech carbon cans of the LOUD variety
Interesting to read the history of Powertech, thanks,
Tony.
