I know another post on noises from engine bays, so please be gentle with responses.
Took her out yesterday for a spin and have noticed the noise however it is now more noticable over the exhaust and stereo. A kind gentleman thought it prudent to tell me it was the tappets and if I had a detailed diagram of the SP6 he could fix it no problem !! As you can imagine I refused his kind offer.

To conclude the noise is now quite loud and increases when the engine revs increase. I having no knowledge of engines apart from the basic technical knowledge involving(suck, squeaze, bang, blow) explanation and could benifit from those of you out there having superior technical expertize. To cut to the chase is it f*7%8d ? frown

1. Dont panic
2. get it to a proper Speed Six engine specilaist - talk to Dom at TVR Power he may give you some advice over the phone.

When I had "dreaded ticking" it turned out to be the clutch on the air con compressor, I was told not to worry and drive the car like I stole it smile

note - This stuff is my opinion only and I am not responsible if it breaks smile

Fair play to you to being such a lunatic. I'd have been at the side of the road in a shot, engine off and on the phone to the recovery services.

As well as the shims needing doing, it could also be the chains need adjusting.

I would say like blueg33 that a quick check over is good for the heart rate, and better say than sorry.

There are a whole list of things that it could be as well as the dreaded SP6 death by a thousand cuts. They are noisy, when was it last serviced?

Hope that helps

Hi Neill. You have been quiet on the forums for the last few weeks, hope all is ok. Is your car back on the road yet?

Hi Nick

Nope not yet, bloody having to work for a living. I started the 12k, found a few issues and then got busy with work. I am thinking I might get to it next week. Bought an M3, got hit by a B&Q lorry on the M25 and then had my identity stolen! Been quite a month.

Just contemplating whether I whip the carpets out.

Also need to find a good solution for the rocker cover gasket.

I know £50, so have raceproved and Racing Green all abou the same and all Viton. Which imho is better than the silicone sealer and the risk of it coming off and in the oil system.
