Tuscan fans/overheating

Hello all,
i think my fans have decided to have a little holiday and stop working, when stationary steam starts to come from the engine at certain temp. Obvious thing it could be is the thermostat or sensor. Where is the thermostat or sensor on a tuscan??? Anyone had this problem before and is it a easy fix?

What temp does the pod say when it starts to steam?
Things to check:
Coolant level isn't too high (should be about 10mm in the bottom of the filler neck when cold)
Cap is ok
Fan Fuses and relays
Radiator (hoses) actually gets hot (thermostat could be stuck)
Temp Sensor for the ECU which is under the airbox (pod has a different sensor). Un plug it and if the fans come on, then the sensor is bad. This is because without a temp reading the ECU goes into failsafe mode and commands the fans to start.
Electrical plugs connecting the fans. As they're quite exposed and they're not weatherproof types, they corrode and stop working.
It will be one of these items causing the problem.
Things to check:
Coolant level isn't too high (should be about 10mm in the bottom of the filler neck when cold)
Cap is ok
Fan Fuses and relays
Radiator (hoses) actually gets hot (thermostat could be stuck)
Temp Sensor for the ECU which is under the airbox (pod has a different sensor). Un plug it and if the fans come on, then the sensor is bad. This is because without a temp reading the ECU goes into failsafe mode and commands the fans to start.

It will be one of these items causing the problem.
Firstly, check the plug connectors on the wire(s) coming off the fan motor(s). Connectors get corroded and fans stop - can lead to blown fuses.
What is your coolant level like? Should be just covering weld on elbow to expansion tank. Might be worth replacing the pressure cap....REPLACE WITH GENUINE VAG/VolksWagen cap (from VW Golf Mk.2). Do not go for pattern parts!! Had 2 fail on me after ~ 500 mls apiece (from a company that specialises in German, Swedish & French car parts - clue is in the text!!).
The sensor for ecu, which also activates the fans is below the bottom 1/2 of the airbox. Could be this has failed. Therefore, needs main bonnet removed and then the airbox - sensor & plug is on the block between Nos 4 & 5 cylinders - wiring should be marked with yellow label. If you unplug sensor wiring with engine running, both fans should come on. So if engine is cold started unplug sensor and jiggle fan wiring to see if you can 'bump' them into life.
