Hi all,

After a long time searching I picked up my Tuscan yesterday, WOW I just love it.

I have a few things to get sorted, of which I know about after having a inspection done on the car, money well spent.

My question is how do I know if I have CCC/ Powertech cans on rather than just standard TVR carbon cans, the previous owner did not know. There is know obvious markings on them.

This is my car:

Cheers all,

Karl

Hi Karl, welcome to the club, hope you have much fun with it as I do with mine. Looking at the pictures of yours I would think that you have the standard TVR cans.

Your cans have the factory end shape but that was also the shape that the carbon can company used initially until tooling was destroyed for that shape. So they could be standard cans or early CCC cans. Or they could standard cans that have been sleeved. To tell shine a torch inside and if your see lots of little holes ie perforated, then they are standard cans, if its totally smooth they are cccs if it's smooth with a lip then they are sleeved original cans!

Nice looking car Karl. Remember, silver ones with black leather are the fastest.

Hi Corkys,
Are you sure you want to jump in with both feet with the ccc and decat without a bit more investigation ?
My mk2 has protect and decat and is a little loud to say the least. wink
Where are you in the midlands ?
I live in south Cheshire if you want to have a listen. That said, not home for another 2 weeks.
E-mail me if you want.
Btw your Tuscan looks ace. Congrats.

Thanks for all your help and comments, the car comes with de-cats so it would rude not to try them out first.

Thanks for your offer so called, I am based in Worcestershire, and the car goes in this week to have the parts fitted, cheers though.

I just can't stop driving it, loving the character of the engine.

Where in Worcestershire? I am near Evesham. Mine is decatted and has carbon cans. Very loud which is great sometimes and not so great at others. Biggest issue IMO is motorway cruise with a passenger you want to talk to, the exhaust drones quite a bit.

Edited to add - Quality lurking!

Im in Bromsgrove if you ever need help. I have a decatted and sleeved exhaust if you wanted to compare the two....

Either of you two headed to the Cotswold meet 7th April or Chatsworth...could head to either or both together...

Who'd have known it. Two fellow Tuscan owners within (exhaust sounding) distance wink. I am in Brockhill - 5 miles from Bromsgrove

I have a Tuscan 2 full convertible - fairly certain I am running standard/de-sleeved, but keen to compare. I think a run to Birmingham for some acoustic testing might be in order...... I can bring some V8 Ultima's with me too.

Noooooo, that would be hugely irresponsible. I would never do something like that. I never have and I never will

I wouldn't rush into CCC and a de-cat, I think it is just Toooo LOUD and raspy. Try one or the other first IMO.
Ccc and cats sound good loads of pops and bangs and will pass Mot.
