Took my Tuscan upto Blackpool yesterday and left it there for the 24K mile service and tappet adjustment. The car has 18500 miles on now.

Spoke to the factory again this afternoon - and everything has been done with quite a few extras (at my request) for £800 all in. Some shims required, but all OK according to the service guys. Looking forward to picking her up again on Saturday.

Some may say that its not a cause for celebration, but I'm happy that my car is behaving itself engine wise and just seems to get better with more miles, rather than worse. So, I'm a happy chap.

Had my 24K mile service at the factory two weeks ago, also a bit of re-trimming drivers seat & door panels, they did a superb job & very quick.I don't think it's ever run so smooth as it does now.Have 20K on the clock engine is still all orignal although it is going to have some upgrades in the winter

Excellent news. My first Tuscan (2000) got as far as 22,000 miles without missing a beat. Good to hear some are getting far on now.

It is good news, I always thought that if you dive the car it will be fine. It is the sitting about that causes them to break.

Mine is low mileage and has been sitting about with the previous owners. I guess I'll have to introduce it to 'real' driving gently.

I agree, mine had its 24K service in June and it isn’t even 2 years until August. I drive it all the time and it seems to get far fewer problems than other owners report.

Get mine back from the factory next week after
4K engine rebuild and de-catt, looking forward
to getting it back after seven weeks away.
Just have to decide wether to stick with it or
sell up while it's got the engine warranty.
Although they wont say what caused it to go bang they
did say that it should have cost 8.5K without there
assistance? As a new speed six is about 12K to buy
I wonder if TVR should look at offering a choice of
engine from a different manufacturer in the future?
The 500+bhp all alloy quad cam V8 in the new Ford GT
for instance is available as a crate engine from Ford
for around $15000 so should not affect price of the car. Might be good for business as I think some people are a bit wary of the speed six.
Just a thought.
Roll on next week :0 :0

Heath from the factory called me today to talk through what they have done, and it all seems routine stuff. He even commented on how good the condition of the car is. Looks like the throttle pots are a little bit worn and could be an upgrade to have done in the future. Apart from that, can't wait to collect the beast tomorrow and enjoy the 50 mile blast home.

My service and tappets came to about 800 quid, but there was another 540 in other bits. The car is running much better for it.

Do you know what oil they have used Bryan? I forgot to ask when I picked mine up but was going to give them a ring next week.

I don't know for sure what oil they have used. I recall that they went to Carlube. Not sure if there will be anyone there today who can tell me as I expect it will just be security on duty there. Will try to find out for you.

Sorry, I'm still none the wiser. The car was left with security for me to collect. Therefore, they wouldn't know - and no evidence around to suggest what oil they used either.

Felt quite disappointed when I collected the car - contrary to my original post:

1. steering wheel not alligned as requested
2. scratch to rear wing
3. scratches to back of car
4. wire hanging down from under steering column
5. cream interior now filthy - foot marks on door inserts, grubby hand prints on door inserts, transmission tunnel, handbrake and gear gaitors
6. o volts alarm present on starting car, had to turn off and restart 3 times before it would clear - NEVER done that before
7. speedo needle flickered between 40 and 90 mph several times on journey home - and it has NEVER done that before either

The engine is running well and the car feels nice and tight. Just that cosmetically it seems to have been rather less well cared for than I would expect and possibly having been left out in heavy rain caused some elctrical gremlins. I think I may have to have a word with them about the scratches though - that's not cricket, especially for an £800 factory service!

Have a look at the link below, the crate
engines are complete and even include the
wiring harness.I think a company like TVR
would be able to purchase them at considerably
less than the figure quoted as have the likes
of Rover for the SV.The point being there are
engines out there that are well within cost and
easily go 100,000 miles without rebuilds.Have a look
at some of the ads for second hand F150's a lot are
over 60,000 miles already.Like I said it would not be as
a replacement for the speed six which is a great engine
when running but as an option for people who are to scared
of the speed six to part with the readies.
This would hopefully lead to stronger sales for TVR
which can only be a good thing :0

No worries I´ll ring them.

I must admit there were similar marks on the interior of my car when I picked it up which is a bit annoying as I had cleaned it for the first time in ages before it went in. Typical.

But didn't old Peter drop the rover V8 because it stopped being british (when bmw bought 'em).... so I can't see hom jumping at the chance to stick a US lump in a trevor.

But I agree.. I'd jump at a chance for that in the tuscan.. now that's a real engine.

Turns out that I will not need to be topping the oil up for a while anyway. I checked it today for the first time since the service and it is about 2 litres above the max line.

SORRY ABOUT THE BOX THING MISSING BUT DONT NO HOW TO DO IT , BUT YOU MIGHT LIKE THIS :-)

If you realy want a V8 in your tuscan or cerb Dreadnought TVR are working with the Ford quad cam V8 for most uk companys who use this unit, and will be offering anything from 320 - 600 BHP .They may also be looking for owners of cerb V8's and tuscan owners if they want to up grade at a min cost as a test bed car.

As for me speed six every time its bomb proof.
