Help! Auxiliary Fuel Pump?
Discussion
Hi all,
Well the expected TVR niggles have started, and it looks like the first one may be a serious one...
There's been a buzzing/humming noise coming from behind the passenger door. I (and several others) thought it was feedback from the speaker so I had Paul's (PCTVR) electrics chap have a look today.
It turns out the sound is actually coming from a suspected fuel pump by the speaker (so inside the car)!!! However when Paul got the car on the ramp last weekend, he definitely saw a fuel pump underneath so I'm completely confused, not to mention a little worried as this could be quite dangerous.
Has anyone heard of this before? Would there really be a 2nd fuel pump? If so, what would the fix be?
Any thoughts would be very much appreciated.
Thanks.

Definitely no aux'y fuel pump on a Tuscan....as standard!
My hunch would be that the door release solenoid is somehow energised or at fault somehow.
Easiest way to prove is to grovel behind B-post trim cover (alcantara covered panel) and disconnect on the multi-pin connector on the wires from door lock and see if the buzzing stops?
I'm sorry, but whoever advised of a 2nd pump does not know TVR's.

Definitely there is only 1 fuel pump.
You may want to ask an expert, but I am pretty sure there is kind of a release valve in the fuel system located right in that area.
There is sometimes a buzzing noise for another 2 up to 5 seconds after the fuel pump has already stopped priming.
Opening the filler cap to release the Vacuum between 2 filling stops might already help.

Yes - there is a valve (roll-over?) usually tie wrapped to the roll hoop behind the trim panel...sort of just under the rear 3/4 window. Could be that I suppose. You may want to ask an expert, but I am pretty sure there is kind of a release valve in the fuel system located right in that area.
