Tuscan Access Bonnet

New owner, could be doing it wrong !!!

Clicking the catch then pulling bonnet off the clips both sides but then wont lift up :O(

Seems the pin in the middle isnt going back...

Am I doing something wrong ?

Or are they tricky ?

I didnt want to snap the pin out the GRP on the main bonnet :O))

Make sure, after you have released the side clips, that you once again pull up the release lever as you lift the front bonnet - it will otherwise pop back into its hole.

When the catch is pulled back the front bonnet should spring up slightly as in this picture:-



This is so the catch does not go back into the hole and to maintain a bit of tension on the outer ball/socket catches so they don't come un-done.

I didn't really think about bonnet access keys when I got my car - but found them stuffed into the inside cover of the handbook. Should get a pair of these little keys that allow the front access bonnet catch to be locked. Could be useful. (i'll say no more).

Car dirty as ever Nick Do you clean the fan area as well ?!

I've never worked out why I would need to lock the front bonnet. The catch sometimes sticks so I always leave it popped out. Is there a particular crime I should be trying prevent which involves someone checking and topping up my oil for example ?

Yes & all the other areas you can't normally see!! Wife thinks I am a bit as well.Although recived a nice complement the other week when some one asked how many weeks old it was and had to tell them it was nearly four years old and has done more than 20K miles.

on the subject of the fans though.. always thought they looked a bit out of place.. plasticy. I was thinking of maybe taking them out and spraying them silver (and laquering them)... or maybe same colour as the car ?

Nice idea, I like that. Would the paint job survive down 'in there' OK? What kind of paint would do the job? Interesting thought that.

well, I did my grills on my mundaneo a year ago silver paint. 3 or 4 coats, then 3 coats of laquer and it's still fine. The laquer makes it pretty tough and thats getting bashed with flies, etc all the time so I reckon it'd be fine.
