I dropped my Tusc off this morning for new alternator & power steering belts to be fitted. I've just had a call from Dom, turns out the bearing cap bolts are seized solid and can only be removed by dropping the engine and drilling them out. £ouch frown

And the first four weeks of ownership were going so nicely!

That's a bummer.

What bearing cap bolts is Dom referring to? Trying to think what you mean here. Is it the access to the adjustment for belt tightness?

Going to do the alternator belt on my Tuscan soon. It appears that in the 30k odd of receipts that my car came with it has never been changed by a "specialist" and is looking shall we say tired.

Hoping I dont encounter a similar situation....

Yes that's the kiddie, the lower one is seized solid and has got to be drilled and re-tapped.
No option really, the belts ,look tired and if I left it, it'd just be on my mind all the time and no doubt snap somewhere on the way to Le Mans
Turns out that whilst the engine is out he's had a look at the clutch and that's about shot it as well.
Turning into a very expensive couple of days frown
