So my dash saga continues. Car starts & runs perfectly but once running decides to tell me that I have 199 degrees water temp & zero oil pressure. It also appears to be effecting my fuel gauge although the speedo works fine. I know the water temp & oil pressure is wrong, fans come in fine & engine hasn't seized despite me doing a few hundred miles.

It doesn't always do this although recently it is doing it more. I have fitted two new engine to chassis earth straps & changed the water temp sensor in a bid to remove the issue.

Next up I want to check the earths for the dash pod in particular but all earth points in general. The theory being that a dodgy earth would cause the signal voltage for those sensors to drop and give a false reading. The readings do vary from normal to these maximums.

So question is where do I look for the earths for the dash pod, ecu etc? Is there somewhere under the dash in drivers footwell etc? I will be checking/cleaning the main battery one aswell.

All help much appreciated smile

Have a look at Graham Varleys "Sagaris Manual".
Google gave this link: http://www.varleyhyd.com/FJ062.asp

I thought he might have a copy of his book on the web - but that's not the case (makes sense really...as he wants people to buy!).

In his book he refers to earths at following locations:
1) Internal passenger side footwell (M10 bolt) and also access the battery box and clean the battery earth.

2) Engine. Remove front drivers side wheel. Earth cable(s) are attached to RHS engine mount chassis bolt

3) Chassis. IIRC on Tuscan it is just in front of dry sump tank...fairly close to oil temp sensor on boss at bottom of tank. Access is also via drivers side wheel arch

So, when you're cleaning up the terminals closely inspect the wiring and connection to the circular terminals.

Also try Passenger footwell fuse, hairline cracked?
Replace with midi fuse anyway

^^That's a good shout too from Graham.
I did all my earths a few weeks ago and changed both the strip fuses for midi type. The 100A adjacent to starter was nearly on the point of failing - about 80% with a hairline crack.
