Quick Question Re; Fans
Discussion
Paul,
As mentioned - fans come on 'sequentially' according to coolant temp...measured at ECU sensor (different to pod display sensor).
If the drivers side fan comes on immediately on the ignition/runs continuously, it indicates the air-con (if fitted) trinary switch has failed....Guess how I know ;-(.

Thanks Nick, when I noticed what I thought might be a problem, it was the drivers side that was on, but neither come on upon start up.
Incidentally, I had not started the car for about 4 weeks, and when I did start up, it fired first time. Not a hint of trying to turn over. I had it on charge all that time, but still surprised how quick it was. I was sooooo chuffed

Decats and chip was worth around 20bhp gain over standard. But you won't get that without the chip.
Sports cats and chip was worth the same plus a bit more torque than no cats produced.
all measured on TVR Power's rolling road.
Decats and CCCs was too loud for me. The volume shot up but the quality of the sound took a nose dive. So it was a win win going for sports cats, even so they are considerably louder than standard cats. From a pure sound point of view the best it ever sounded was with standard cats and CCCs. It's more aggressive sounding now, like a powerboat on tickover but it is a bit more raspy than it was.
I currently have 200 cell cats (standard are 400) but Dom can get you 100 cell cats if you want. Or at least he could at the time I had mine done. No idea what the gains are if any over the 200 cell ones.
There is an order
decat - no chip - more noise no more power relatively
Decat & chip 10-20hp from better mapping (?)
Decat and bespoke map 20hp+

OK, I have a de-cat with no chip and Carbon Cans. It sounds ok, slightly high pitched iykwim . A friend of mine has a decat with power chip and some shark nose ends. His does sound a bit deeper, but having said that, its hard to judge my own car from when I am inside. I might go with the power chip just to set the two up, and maybe go with a remap at a later date
