hey all

i know this topic comes up alot, with various outcomes but i need to add my thoughts based on todays pick up and drive.

i have just had fitted a polished gel coat front D splitter and an s boot spoiler without the lenses both by julian at fibreon.

my mk1 is transformed.

night and day.

anyone considering it. do it. the car actually feels heavier in a pushed down way, totally different, makes u realise how fly away light it felt before.

Very interesting, I have the splitter but refrained from the spoiler as wasn't sure it looked right on a non s. I did struggle to see any proper pics though so it would be nice if you could post some.

Ahh this is y the s had both. The splitter makes the back lighter as the front is pushed down by the air.
The s spoiler seems the obvious choice to counter the splitter.
I'll post summit tomirrow.
Imho the car looks stunning with the changes. The stance is souch more aggi

I know mate, Tvr did say apparently that you need both to make them work properly.

For me it's the front which has always felt lighter, moRe so without the splitter though admittedly.

Look forward to the pics, the s looks awesome in the flesh IMO.

As per a post in the Sag forum, the original Sag design, with splitters and teeth at front, created downforce making the rear lighter, wind tunnel tests proved it, and so the gurney flap was invented... not too dissimilar to the S package really...

I also fitted both MK1 S front splitter and rear spoiler. You are completely right, along the motorway or fast a/b roads the car feels alot more planted. it doesnt seem to jump around as much as it did. A noticable improvement from speeds around 60mph+!

Have to say i really dont like the mk1 S spolier, its just too big. I may consider the mk2 spoiler, smaller lip and much more discrete. I just think the lines of the mk1 are so clean they dont look right with the blooming great spoiler on the back.

However, this thread has given me an idea...maybe a clear spoiler on bespoke aluminum brackets like the Sag? I cant employ the 'science' in design that TVR did though...reckon there was much science behind their mk1 s spoiler?? or all design flare??

Good to hear feedback on the handling improvements too,

Two things dude

Blooming great ?? Seriously ? Its not a whale tail ! smile

And the s spoiler is not just design and no function.

As vbh said ... "It really is there for down force and that's scary"

And she is really hot imho wink

I do agree the non s is a beautifully curvy thing.. but by the same token them curves are dangerous !

Not driven a non-S, but at 120mph+ you can really feel the downforce pushing the car down. The car is noticeably a lot more stable and solid feeling. Even at 170+ its rock solid, and doing the same with the roof off also didn't seem to make much difference. thumbup

I thought that the boot spoiler reduces lift rather than creating down force, but maybe that's splitting hairs.

It can only reduce lift by creating down force..

Not necessarily, lift and downforce act in opposite directions The effect may be the same but reducing lift is not the same as increasing down force until you have reduced the lift so much that it becomes
-ve lift smile

sorry carp explanation

Looking at that pic (lovely car BTW) i wonder whether a sagaris spoiler would fit?

Less obvious than the S spoiler?

Ahhh

U again with the its too big smile

Each to their own Rob, if the sag thing flicks ur switches I guess ur always gonna want one.

For me... The sag spoiler is a sag spoiler. It's spikey and pointy ... This is a tuscan curvy and
exy. ( say that bit like gok wan)

That makes me a bit of a purist I spose.

Good luck if u do it tho dude I'd like to see it nonetheless.
